It was a crappy year for a Russian player to come over to the States in a lockout shortened season, the schedule has been exhausting for him, the systems have been overwhelming, he's had little rest, no practice time, had a concussion. These things were apparent even before the injury.
In many ways, this was like grad school for him this year. When you take a step back and analyze his season, the deck was very much stacked against him and I expect him to be a much, much more effective player next season.
