Knocking the A's out for the 3rd year in a row would give me great pleasure.

How funny would it be if Detroit somehow acquired Price today. I'd just love to see the look on the face of the entire Oakland organization.

Dombrowski is apparently holding talks right now of doing just that.

I don't blame Oakland for going for it. But I'd rather have another year of Cespedes than a rental in Lester.

Rosenthal's saying we got Price. Really curious what we gave up.

Jackson and Smyly for Price.

Who is going to play CF?

I'm not sure it's entirely a joke or not, but Henning just tweeted about Enrique Carrera. Honestly, with his numbers in the minors, Carrera has earned a shot.

Or Dirks is indeed coming back.

With this team and with Price having another year, I'm okay with it. Scherzer is still gone regardless of this trade.

Yeah, and I'm not really bothered with losing Jackson. Liked the guy but, like Granderson, just never seemed to take that next step and has actually seemed to regress a bit.

And it's Ezequiel, not Enrique. pffft Henning.

Jackson was going to be moved shortly by Dombrowski anyhow. Especially after drafting Hill.

I'm still weary of the bullpen because that's where Smyly was going in the playoffs. I'm guessing Porcello but it really should be Verlander.

Wow, can't believe we traded for Price. Incredible rotation now, but I am worried about center now. Jackson was great out there and Davis doesn't get the best jumps. Pretty big downgrade defensively.

Verlander as the #4 starter...the A's can't match that if he can channel October J.V.

But how pissed must Porcello be right now? Having a career year and they add a starting pitcher that will probably force him into the bullpen when he looked like he was going to finally stay in the rotation in the playoffs.

With the offense being hot and cold if you can't get a bat, you might as well load up the starting pitching.

Let's have fun for a sec (hypothetical Tigers-A's three-(re)match)...

Game 1: Scherzer vs. Lester
Game 2: Price vs. Grey
Game 3: Sanchez vs. Samardzijia (sp)
Game 4: Verlander vs. Kazmir

The A's don't want to lose to the Tigers for a third straight year but hopefully adding Price would get it done.

Both teams give up a bat today...Cespedes off the A's and Jackson off the Tigers. Advantage: Tigers?

It all rests on the health of Miggy and V-Mart. A lot of faith being put in J.D., Castellanos and Saurez.

still waiver trades in August, too. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Tigers find a bat in there somewhere. I still think they should give that Carrera guy a shot at center, though. He's put up solid numbers in the minors throughout his career, he's a natural centerfielder, good base stealer. No power to speak of, but we need a guy out there who can play defense.

They're calling him up so we'll see what he's got.

The Detroit Tigers way.

Design a rotation that can go 8-9 innings so you won't need a bullpen in the postseason. Lets see if it works.

Bad strategy when you face a team like the A's (or the Red Sox last year) that see a lot of pitches and burn up your pitch count and you have to go to your bullpen quicker.

Beat starting lineup for pitchers since the early 2000 A's?

Name wise, maybe. Philly had a ridiculous staff a while back as well.

But still a lot of work to do. Detroit's 2012 staff down the stretch and entering the postseason was really good.

Scherzer has really been dominant lately and we'll see what happens once Price puts on the D. But Verlander flat out needs to better and even Sanchez has to get back to the way he pitched last season and earlier this season.

As a Jays fan, trust me, you don't want Davis anywhere near CF. His atrocious defense is masked in LF, but in CF, he'll get totally exposed. Guy takes the worst routes to fly balls I have ever seen. So bad at tracking fly balls, not even his blazing speed can make up for it. In LF, at least he'd be masked by lesser priority on fly balls and less ground to cover, meaning his speed can make up for his horrible routes, but in CF, it'll be completely exposed.
