To be fair, that was a questionable analysis of Ceci's play.

The Sens are definitely in the top 7-8, and if they manage to keep Methot, adding Chabot in the mix (very high on him) will make them top 5 imo.

Nashville, SJ, CLB.

Then there is a drop off.

ANA. Will get better with Theodore and Montour developing.

STL is not bad either.

CAL is a legit top 4 guy away from being upper echelon.

CAR has a good future, but I can't rank them top 5... get a playoff game in first before talking.

Florida doesn't belong on the list. Tampa maybe, but their Dcore is declining minus Hedman.

1. Nashville no competition
2. Carolina
3. Calgary (If they resign Stone)
4. Minnesota
5. Columbus
6. Anaheim/St. Louis (Depends on how well Edmundson progresses, if Bouwmeester can remain at least a good #3, and Edmundson can become better than that, St. Louis is easily number 6, because call me biased I think St. Louis has the best top 4 RHD, it's their lackluster LHD that brings them down. Yes Pietrangelo-Parayko is better than Subban-Ellis).

If you're talking about purely defensive abilities top 6

1. Minnesota
2. St. Louis
3. Nashville
4. Calgary
5. Anaheim
6. Carolina

SJ doesn't belong here. Vlasic and Burns are excellent. But Martin is a number 5, and Braun is a number 4.

Now that is really sad.
Especially because I think none of them would crack NSH top 4...

As bad as Irwin and Weber are, I'd take them over everyone but Green at this point. So they wouldn't even make Nashville's bottom pairing which is a drastic decline from their top 4, let alone some of the better bottom pairings in the league (St. Louis, ANaheim, Minnesota, etc.).

Matt Irwin over Dekeyser? That's a bit of a stretch. If you're including contracts then it's a no brainer for Irwin, however if you're strictly asking "who is a better hockey player Matt Irwin or Danny Dekeyser" the answer there is Dekeyser. Dekeyser should be making 3-3.5 and should be playing as a #3/4.

Chabot-Ceci
I'm sorry but a Phaneuf-Karlsson pairing scares me and NOT in a good way.

I think Burns/Vlasic/Martin+1 don't look out of place in #4/#5 range.

I'd see a good argument for #3 personally. They have a great top 4 (although a little long in the tooth).

That's the only part of their team that is actually playoff ready. Put a league average goalie behind them and they'd be there last season.
