Phoenix LXX: Should they stay or should they go now?
The tradeoff for getting any help from COG will be a shorter comittment. The NHL currently has a seven year loyalty to area agreement in any franchise transfer. COG won't get a long term comittment at a lower dollar amount. Fewer dollars, shorter lease. That may be the best route for everyone. COG has all kinds of skin in the game but most importantly they do not want the NFL hosting the Super Bowl next year in a vacated shopping and restaurant area that will almost certainly kill the chances of ever getting the big game or the national college football championship again.
