Just not sold on Grabner's game. IMO he is comparable to a Mason Raymond. He pulled off one really good goal scoring season but on a year to year player is NOT that player.

This we need defense. And im not so sure I would trade Grabs for Rundblad.
We need Defensive D not offensive PMD...we have a few PMD in our system. None with potential that Rundblad has, but we have them none the less. deHann could turn into Mark Streit and I think isles fans would be fine with that..

I disagree with you, Grabner has potential to be a 50 point player on a regular basis. The biggest reason Grabner is playing poorly this year is because of the Islanders lack of transition game. Grabner's goals will always predominately come from breaking out of the zone, however Capuano doesn't know how to coach a defense at all, and we have NO transition game. Grabner is also slumping this year, but he hasn't been as bad as his stats suggest.

Rundblad has 50 point potential as well. Maloney considers him to be another Sergei Zubov. He has elite vision and puck handling skills. Once he refines his overall defensive game he'll be a mainstay in Phoenix's top 4. Incredibly skilled player.

Gormley appears to be an incredibly intelligent, poised, defensively sound player. Could make a great partner for Rundblad some day.

It's an embarrassment of riches on the blueline in Phoenix that's for sure. And this is the year of the D man in the draft and we're ignoring Connor Murphy who's looking very good in Sarnia these days. That's without bringing up the two rookies in Summers and Stone who have factored themselves into roster spots for next year. Goncharov also rated in THN's top 75 prospects as well.
the islanders have enough offensive defensemen coming up, they dont need rundblad. they need big-or at least-physical defensemen. hitters, crease clearers, punishers........

I agree with you, it would not be a fair trade for the Coyotes. I was just stating that ducky was undervaluing Grabner.

Apparently any player someone offers up in a proposal must suck, otherwise there would be no reason for that team to trade him. Especially not the Isles' gaping hole on defense combined with their complete inability to sign quality UFAs... those are definitely not reasons.
