Let's put him on the NY Rangers, which is definitely a SC contending team this year:

That slots him into the NYR's top six. Ladd's had a bit of an off year in point production, but in my opinion, he's a top-6 player in the NHL. Note too that his point total last year would put him solidly in the top 3 in point production on the Rangers.
I don't know of another hard working, gritty, leader that has scored 25+ goals for his team two years in a row that gets less respect.
A lot have also forgot that Ladd was the only reason the first line WAS the first line in the early part of the season.
Like I said, "on a contending team". He absolutely should be a top 6 on the Jets. I think it's the style of game Ladd plays. He gets in the dirty areas. He is a grinder. He doesn't have top 6 talent on a contending team. Just one man's opinion.

All fanbases tend to do this. I don't know why. There are still people claiming that Dustin Brown is a 3rd liner at best on a contending team among the Kings faithful Ladd is top 6 on ANY team in the league. When will people realize that you need HITTING AND GRIT IN THE TOP 6. Just cause a player is physical does not make him a grinder.

Thank you YWG.
It's infuriating to hear people constantly either A)sell players short or B) have a absolutely RIDICULOUS idea of what "top line talent" is.
Ladd is a fantastic second liner, and a more then serviceable "complementary" first liner.
I'll take a hard nosed heart and soul guy who can screen and shovel in the garbage on my first line over a line of three finesse players because you NEED those guys to create space, cause confusion, and open up the ice for your playmakers/finishers.

your saying most third liners can score 29+ goals given the minutes? Well by that logic, there should be plenty of 29+ goal scorers in the league last year.cus if Third Liners can do it, the three first liners that every team besides that jets has should be able to do it too right?
hmmm...
only 33 29+ goal scorers last year. That's an average of 1.1 per team....not only is their not enough 1st liners, at best, only 4 teams have more then 1 first 2nd or 3rd line player playing top line minutes!
I didn't realise there were so many fourth liners and call ups filling out the other 57 top-line spots.
