And the best part? Unlike in '96, the Jets play again next year.

Yep, for sure. I keep telling myself it isn't the end, its just the beginning.

Regardless of what I tell myself, the summer months are still empty.

But in a way, isn't this awesome that they kept the playoff dream alive until three games left in the season? Especially after the horrid start in October and the gawdawful January swoon?

Sooooo close - just three more wins, one each in October, November and January, and we'd still have a shot at it. That's it, three more wins. Crappy losses to Phoenix, Ottawa, NYI and Carolina.

On the other hand, they're still playing here next year, right? We have many more years of discussions & arguments, playoff appearances, live & televised games.

Winter is just going to seem shorter from now on.

See CapGeek. Actually, after a horrendous start he was -14 as of Feb 16th, but is now -7. In the last 6 weeks, he's been +7. Can you imagine a whole year at this rate? I was down on him earlier in the season, but I have to admit he has upped his game. Huddy gets a lot credit for this. Next year will be the time for Buff to "put up or shut up".

I think Buff gets way too much criticism around here.

When he's on his game and isn't costing us goals, he can take the game over like Mike Green or Erik Karlsson.

Non-marquee UFAs I would be interested in this summer (assuming they pass the "character" test):

Dominic Moore
Steve Sullivan
Andrei Kostitsyn
and perhaps Josh Harding

Keep it going in the pre-game talk.
