Katie Brown is bad at math...
https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/cbj-v..._state=preview

Edited: Has been edited to say regulation win (which would tie it if Pens lose)...said either regulation or OT

Still says they "take over" first place

If we don't win division ...at least get home ice. Actually wouldn't mind if caps win tonight..in regulation.

No, we got a point. Let´s focus on home ice. R1 vs Columbus starting at home doesn´t sound too bad to me, IF we are healthier.

I could deal with home ice CBJ. Certainly better than other options.

Are there people for whom these divisions are something meaningful or important? They're brand new and they have stupid names. They should at least be named after important figures from hockey history.

The names of the divisions are irrelevant

I dunno why some people are freaking out. We knew it was a longshot to beat the Caps in the standings, we are badly injured and we are STILL ahead of the Jackets for 2nd in the division/conference/LEAGUE. We are likely playing CBJ, we still got 9 games to figure **** out.

The blue jackets were fortunate to get a single point in their last 2 games. They were outplayed last night and tonight. Maybe we have seen the best they can play already this season. I am very confident that the Pens have another gear.

Heavily outplayed too. With a healthy lineup. That wouldn´t happen to healthy Penguins, most likely. I like our chances vs them IF we have the home ice and some guys back. Just bring them on and make their fans cry. Other than Bobrovsky, that team is cooling off a bit, imo.

Anyone know offhand what our record is without Letang in the lineup this season?

Some people on our board think we need 2 lines of Sestito's to even have a chance against the big mighty Jackets. Our star players will cower to those big, nasty men.

I'd definitely like to see them go back to the Prince of Bel Air Conference.

Or back to the old days when the Pens and Kings were in the same division. At least I had more opportunity to see Marcel Dionne and those awesome, nearly all purple unis.

Frankly, I don't really care. I hate the fact that the Pens are getting screwed this year, but it could work in their favor in other years. And the team probably likes a few more games against relatively local division teams as it's probably a fewer hours on the road (of course, that doesn't apply to the Atlantic-bound Red Wings).

I think the other night Staggy said 20-7-3. that would make them 21 - 7 - 4 now, if he and my memory are correct.

That's impressive as ****. Sort of what I thought too. I don't know if another team could put together a record line that without their number one. Also makes me wonder just how important elite defencemen are in Sully's system.

I believe the Jackets are technically ahead of us. Same points, one more pure win.

EDIT: Shockmaster in the other thread said the standings aren't updated on NHL.com so I am wrong. Thanks official NHL website!

The BJ's still have a game against each of us and the Caps. How those games go will likely be our last best shot at getting 1st.
