never could stand Brashear's fighting style. Hug, Hug, noogie, noogie. If he gets in trouble, bail. The enforcer who didn't want to enforce.

You could see the directions of the careers, watching these fights. The first few, all Probert. Brashear held on, refused to engage, was inexperienced against one of the best fighters ever.

Then, the last few, Brashear in his prime, Probert at the end of his career. All Brashear, hes not afraid to throw now. But hes still tying up and hiding from actual engaging.

That fight always summed up Brashear to me. Ties up and throws noogies on Kocur. Kocur just waits, and then 1 big punch and Brashear goes into retreat mode and bails.

I agree that Brashear is boring, but his style was necessary for a long and productive career. He had an incredible win/loss record and was a pretty good fighter even in his late 30's.

If Brashear fought a more wide open style, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did. As players got bigger and stronger, it became more dangerous to open up and fight offensive. Can you imagine having to trade punches with a Boogaard, Godard, McGrattan or MacIntyre, throughout an entire season? Hard to last a long time with that mindset.

Kocur had the better of Brashear in 1995 in this rarely seen fight.

Also, I basically agree with what you say about Brashear.
