The Oilers had multiple owners back when the dollar was so low. It wasn't thousands of owners obviously, but it was a couple dozen, right? Somehow it was possible in the NHL.
A unionized organization could theoretically work. Power to the people!
Of course, when we offer our second round pick for each team's superstar players, we might run out of friends pretty quickly in the league.
We would also acquire Forsberg and build a shrine to him at the rink. And we would acquire Halak, Ryder and a 2nd just for the lulz. And if we were offered Crosby for our first rounder, we would decline. We would also acquire Morris and instruct the equipment manager to write 'NHL Player Derek Morris' on the back of his jersey.
Our decision making would be left to poll results.
Making moves like offering our next four 1st round picks for only Daniel Sedin then putting him in the minors just to troll Vancouver (and for the lulz)
Call them the Goats, since goat-ropers would be in charge and you can't get away with naming them the Hamilton Cluster****. It would be such horrific, schitzophrenic management to play for, every talented junior from the time they're 14 would be playing-down and sucking on purpose in order to escape Team HFboards's notice/clutches entering the NHL, or simply forego the draft and fly off Europe to exhibit/develop their talent.
It hardly needs to be said that no FA with any value would sign with them, and after other GMs had aquired the few, decent players in return for unloading picks in the now-worthless draft, their phones would be switched off.
So, in the end, not only would the Goats just suck outright to the point "tanking" becomes meaningless (even in the fantasies of those who think teams do this), but would also quickly destroy and render useless the system on which the 50,000 owners depend on to evaluate and overrate the prospects and picks they'd trade all their over-the-hill 22+ year-olds for.
I dunno kids, I wouldn't break your piggy banks just yet.

By the time they're 23, they should be scoring 100 points. It's just HF Boards logic!
We should buy a junior team. Elect executive positions, maybe operate on polls for some issues and let the executives make decisions then revisit their appointments yearly? I'm sure if we had 10 million we could convince the WHL a team in Nanaimo would work. If not, we could try Billings, MT because; why not?
Seriously though Sharks fans get to handle marketing. I think I was more excited about the Star Trek GDT than the rest of the season

Port Huron OHL team. Not quite centrally located, but it's within the heart of OHL land.
