Evander Kane 3G-3A-6PTS
Andrew Ladd 1G-3A-4PTS
Jim Slater 2G-1A-3PTS

Slater still has one game left. Kinda disappointed in the numbers. Tournament leader is Norway's Patrick Thoresen with 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points.

The numbers might be slightly dissappointing, but I've been impressed with Kane's work ethic in this tourney. Forechecking, backchecking, and looking for his team mates to dish off to in the offensive zone.

Now, how do we get Getzlaf and Perry in a Jets uni? Imagine something like:

Kane - Getzlaf - Perry
Ladd - Little - Wheeler (awesome 2nd line! )
Burmi - Antro - Welly
Glass - Slater - Thorburn

One can dream.

Ladd's playing his usual game: working his butt off, getting things done in the dirty areas.

Uh oh. 4-3 Slovakia with 2:28 left to go. Canada with a 5min major, so they're shorthanded for the rest of the game. Not good.

EDIT: and they're done. Zoinks.

I would like to give a resounding ******* you to Ryan Getzlaf for taking that 5 minute major.

The penalty was unavoidable after he commits to the hit. It's unfortunately that it was a knee on knee, but it was definitely not intentional.

It's too bad we lost the tourney. I thought we had a solid group this year, but I think we had a serious lack of depth on our defence and our power play was atrocious.

Don't forget that Kane and Ladd didn't not have much time on the power play. In fact, I don't think Kane was ever on the PP in this entire tournament. They were mostly used on the PK unit where I though Kane did not look out of place. It would be interesting to see him on the PK with the Jets as he can cause a turn over and use his speed to create a chance going the other way. Not only that, Kane has good positioning and a good stick. He just doesn't block shots or move below the face off dot much.

The problem Hockey Canada has (as an indirect result of players reluctant to go overseas to a tournament most people in North America don't care about) is that they always send too many young, inexperienced players.

I'd rather send a 30 year old ~20 goal scorer than a 20 year old ~30 goal scorer. You're essentially putting boys up against men, men that treat this championship like it's as important as winning the Stanley Cup.

After seeing this WHC, I'm done complaining about our coaching and the incompetent refs in the NHL.

Yup. And our coach was horrendous. "Oh ****, a trap... Keep trying to skate through them without speed guys!"

Uh, Sutter was undefeated in regulation prior to today's game. You can't blame him for the offensive zone break down and Getzlaf taking that horrible penalty.

Oh. I'm not used to having non-Canadians in here. I was also on my phone, which doesn't display avatars, signatures, or little things like the sidebar.
