But as you said it may not translate to box office success if they moved from Hartford to Albany.

Albany does not appear to be a pro sports town, more of a college sports town.

I find it hard to believe that there are any Sabres fans since its twice as far the drive there compared to nyc or Newark.
But then again lots of people have migrated out of the buffalo area for decades.

I hope the true diehards in Albany get a long run.
It may be their last chance to cheer an Albany team in quite a while.

Glens Falls is not an Albany team.

I do look forward to Binghamton next season but I will miss tge Albany trips.
There are surprising more Sabres fans in Albany region then Devils fans. Why do u think the Rangers fans are ticked that the NHL designated Albany within Buffalo's media market? Very few Devils games get Capital Region TV play. Should be Rangers first then Buffalo. Actually if you ever attended a Providence Bruins game in Albany u would realize the number of Bruins sweaters in the building is suprising. Albany area is all about the NYC or Boston area teams a close second.

Why would Sabres fans being in Albany be the least bit surprising? It's the freaking state capital and tons of politicians, their enteroge and state workers are from Western NY. Or do you think politicians in the state only come from NYC?

Still Not Albany hockey.

Albany is all about its college sports teams.
It keeps losing its minor league teams, hockey and other sports.

It may also be a good tv watching town for pro teams 2 to 4 hours away (that have nothing to do with Albany).

Utica, Bingo, Rochester, Syracuse have proven to be better minor league hockey towns.

Albany is all about excuses overall, always pointing the finger.

its too bad since they have around 2k diehards that go to the games and are actually fans.

Would love to have those playoff games here but that ice was taken out last Sunday. The minute the Sens season ended they yank that ice. haha
But for real that would have been a horrible slap in the face to the fans in Albany if they did move playoff games to Bing

Syracuse and Rochester of course. Utica however has no professional baseball, none. Albany's team draws an average of over 4000 per game in a stadium that seats 4500 and its only Class A NY-Penn league. Albany's arena football league team drew over 10,000 per season in the original AFL league, neither Binghamton or Utica even hosted arena football. Actually the Binghamton Mets were in discussions to move to the Albany area, and their future is always in doubt, and that's AA Eastern League. Albany has a lot to do with NYC, its the center of political power in the state, the seat of government which is dictated by NYC. Albany is where the NYC power base conducts its business from....Albany is a town that many of its residents hail from NYC, lots of transplants. That's why Albany is growing and the rest of Upstate NY is in decline.

Your reinforcing my point, thank you The political power base does in fact mostly come from NYC though. Buffalo doesn't influence anything that goes on in New York state if you haven't noticed. They have to try control their own destiny. IMO NYC politicians throw Buffalonians some crumbs here and there.

This whole thing has been bickered, belabored, and beaten to death. Time to take a break and a breather folks
