You're joking, right? About this: He damn near got the deal settled on his own accord last month.

Whether you like Crosby or not, he can change the entire game of hockey. Through the concussion issues the NHL and other major leagues were rocked.

I can't think of a single PLAYER more influential then him. Stamkos? No. Ovechkin? No. Malkin? No. Giroux? No.

If Ovi stayed in the KHL, which we obviously know didn't happen, it would be a big deal. If Crosby didn't play this season, the NHL would be ridiculed. The only other person you can argue are past greats like Gretzky and Mario.

Current players: Crosby
Past players: Gretzky/Mario

Sidney Crosby also saved Christmas, put an end to world hunger, and brought world peace. On his own accord.

Or he may operate under something known as a "budget".

Thank you savior Crosby.

Just think, we probably would have had a 2-3 year lockout if it wasn't for him getting the ball rolling...

I don't like Crosby either but you all are proving my point here.

He's the most talked about
Most influential to his city
Stanley Cup winner
Olympic gold medal hero, Canada's second since 58 years (at the time)

And it's either you hate him or love him. You can say the same about Ovi but not even close. This dude beat the fricken USA in the Gold medal finals.

I'm a Caps fan but I admit this.

All while missing the playoffs once

He only tried to re-sign Niedermayer and Parise

Gomez was going wherever the money was and Lou wasn't going to over pay him (how has that turned out?) and Gionta was not offered anything - and in hindsight had we offered him a $4.5-5m contract and he accepted, Kovy would never be a Devil

Lou is not the most powerful man in the sport, but he is one of the most respected
