I think Bergy showed tonight why he will be a lock to make Team Canada.

i would be shocked and disappointed if Marchand made Team Canada...

he's a good player, no doubt, but there is more than enough talent/depth at forward for Canada that there would be no reason to risk having him on the team... His antics and his behaviour are the type of thing that international refs dislike & are much more suited to the entertainment business of the NHL than to the "best on best" environment of the Olympic games (as much as the business side of the games is just as prominent, the sporting aspect is much less "spectacle")

Nash, St.Louis, Perry, Benn, Carter, Neal, Hall, Eberle, Iginla, Ladd, Moulson, Marleau, E.Kane, Kunitz, Burrowa, Simmonds, Seguin, Parenteau, Sharp...

all guys I'd take ahead of him, all things considered.

not to mention C's who could be deployed at W (assuming only Crosby/Getzlaf/Toews as "locks")

Tavares, Stamkos, Giroux, Thornton, Duschene, Staal, Huberdeau, Richards, Bergeron, Staal, RNH ...

no reason to take a guy in the "pest" / "agitator" role when games get called tighter and the punishment for going overboard/doing something stupid is much greater

Agreed. It seems that people always overthink it and forgo talented players for guys who can hit/agitate...then wonder why we come up short. We're the most talented hockey country in the world. Roll out a roster full of talented players and we'll have a great shot at winning.

Have to agree. It was completly ridiculous that they left Stamkos off the team in 2010. I say focus on speed and skill on the big ice and don't make the same mistake of taking slower vetrans like they did in Turin, leave guys like Iggy home.

Besides, many of our most talented players bring a physical edge to their game anyways. Perry, Nash, Getzlaf, Staal, Richards, Iginla, Kane, Neal.

I remember a player that was moved off the first line in meaningful games, and a guy that couldn't keep up with the better teams.

GUuys like Sequin won't keep Iggy off the team. Iggy will keep Iggy off the team.
agree...luv iggy, but no way should he be on this team...we need young and speedy and as much people hate Marchand, you cannot ignore his production now...

when is deadline for naming team?

Ya... even Seguin probably isn't making the team. No chance in hell Marchand does

Big fan of all 3. But, highly unlikely that Seguin or Marchand make the team. I think Bergeron will make the team. In the future Seguin & Marchand may make the team...but who knows it takes a pretty special player to play for Team Canada.
