Is it appropriate to ask questions here? I'm curious about this event from yesterday. You had Senators as a favorite and looking at the bookmakers odds Amerks was a pretty clear favorite in this game. So, how did you come up with these odds? I'm curious. And I don't really understand the concept of the odds here as I'm used to having odds in European way, in decimal, but would the odds translate to 1.79 - 2.17? May it be added that I've never done this vBookie thing here or anywhere else.

Hey hitt, hope these answers help.

A. When I created the event the site I used (hyper link in the first post) had the senators as the favorites. Of course I made that the night before and the odds will change from time to time on these sites based on news that has become avaliable (injuries, line up changes, ect) and sometime based on trends that people are betting. So the odds may have changed from from a Senators being the favorites to the Amerks being the favorites from when I posted it and when you checked.

B. Yes that is exactly how they work. Like you I use the European decimal system when I determin the odds, hiowever the system we use here on the vbookie automatically returns the money bet if you won (which equals that missing 1.00 on the odds). The odds above only show the money that you would win minues the money bet.

I also want to not that the odds on the site are different form the ones i posted because they sometimes only give the 1x2 system which allows the opertunity for you to bet on a tie (which in hockey means going into a shootout). I run their odds trough a formula to get the odds that I provide.

Thanks for the answer. I got curious because I am a punter myself so I wondered about these odds. I suppose you used a North American bookie to check the odds? All the European bookies I checked had Amerks as the favorite from the beginning. Also there was a pretty big odds movement in favor of Sens the whole day before the game.

As a punter you always try to gain edge over your bookie so that's why I got so curious. Perhaps I will be checking some Canadian bookie's odds the next time before placing bets on AHL, as I don't know this league so well.
