I'd aim for the Sunday game vs. Oilers for a weekend game... might be your best bet for cheap seats.
Saturday games are Chicago (1/26) and Detroit (2/2)... I had trouble getting tickets to those when tickets went on sale Monday.
If you can manage weekday game, I would shoot for Monday 1/28 (Stars) or Thursday 1/31 (Blues)... I would expect those games to be lower attendance than Detroit or Chicago and have more tickets available.

Sorry if I missed another thread where I should be posting this, but I'm coming to visit with a few friends on April 12th when the Blues come to town and was wondering what the atmosphere around the arena was like, before and after games? Any places we should definitely go? We are in our 20's so mostly looking at what the bar scene is like. Also, we looking at tickets, I noticed the seats on the end where Columbus shoots twice seem to be cheaper then the other end. Any reason for that? I'm looking at the Club Level. There isn't some sort of obstructive view or anything is there? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

If you are looking for some food beforehand, check out B.D. Mongolian's or Ted's (right across from arena). If you're just looking for a great bar, definitely go to R-Bar. The Garage Bar is also good (good food there as well). After the game, aside from the few places right outside the arena, just down the street from the arena is the Park Street complex, there's a bunch of places there, easy to bar hop for the evening. (For reference for that place, look up Park Street Patio).
Tickets are typically cheaper on the CBJ defend twice end... but if you're looking at Club Level, its cheaper there because Club Level only wraps 1/2 the arena, side and behind the CBJ shoot twice end. So, those are cheaper than the other Club Level seats only because they are on the end and not the side.
I have two front row 205 seats for tonight. Great seats. Cost me $35/ticket per game. Anyone want them for $15/each? I can e-mail/paypal or meet prior to game.
I have 2 lower bowl tickets available for the game tomorrow night.
I can't tell you where the seats are at yet because I don't know. I won 4 lower bowl tickets at a charity auction this summer. The tickets were donated by the CBJ Foundation. In working with them, I chose this game and they have informed me that my tickets are available for pick up at will call prior to the game.
I'm selling for less than face value. I'm not trying to make a profit, just trying to get butts in seats.
There is a chance that I will have 3 available as my wife is a little under the weather.

Not sure I get it too much either but looks like a vacant suite (I thought they were on press level when they showed it last night) is now available if you like to be online tweeting/blogging when at a hockey game.

Looking at potentially coming up for the Sunday March 31st game vs the Ducks.
Looking to probably get real good lower level seats. What is the best place to find tickets? For Caps games I normally go to CL,Stubhub, Ebay, or I am on a closed Caps message board that usually has some decent prices. Any other places for CBJ games?
Are there hotels close to the arena? Any perks for certain seats? I know in STL the first couple rows get free food/booze for the whole game and 1 hour after. Don't have anything like that in DC.
Also, are the Jackets practices open to public? And do the visiting teams normally practice somewhere as well?

My Cousin and I take one or two road trips each year with our beloved San Jose Sharks. The last couple of years have brought San Jose, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Dallas, and soon to be Columbus in April!
I just wanted to say hi and to say that we're looking forward to our trip this year on 4/9.
If you've got anything a couple of California boys NEED to see while we're here, please let us know. Neither of us have ever been to Ohio.

Cedar Point doesn't open up until May. It's a shame because it really puts Great America to shame.
I used to live in San Jose, but now live in North East Ohio, so the first 2 are centered here.
Cleveland has the Rock and Roll hall of fame, which is ok if you don't mind driving 4 hours to spend all of 45 minutes to visit it.
Canton has the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but just a word of warning, they don't like it if you get drunk, wear a Gordie Howe jersey, a keep asking in a loud voice where all the pucks are at.
I've done a few "touristy" things in Columbus. Visiting the re-creation of Christopher Columbus's ship was cool, but don't know if it'll be open in April.
The science center, COSI, is pretty neat, but like most who visited it in their childhood, I much prefer it when it was in the old building.
But usually I just hang out in the arena district. Lots of restaurants, the R-Bar which is a fantastic hockey bar, meander up to the capital, catch a show in one of the many theaters that surround it, things like that.
Probably other than just hanging out in the arena district, I would recommend the Columbus Zoo. I believe it is still rated the number 1 zoo in the nation. You also have the new casino if you like to gamble a bit.
Arena District is a nice place to check out as is the Zoo (as others mentioned).
Columbus also has a pretty cool food scene. There is a group that does tours of food carts which is neat (they closed for Winter but I'm assuming they'll be back up by April). Lots of great places in Short North (right beside the arena) for cool little places to eat as well.
If you guys golf we have a lot of great courses.
I would spend some time walking around OSU as well. Lot of great buildings, architechture.
If you are either a history buff or airplane nut the USAF Museum in Dayton is an awesome side trip.
Totally forgot about the USAF Museum. Fantastic place if you're even remotely into airplanes. As much as I joked that the Rock and Roll HoF takes 45 minutes to visit (because it does) I've spent entire weekends at the USAF Museum.
Ok, Air Force Museum, check. I'm not sure we'll go to the zoo, but eating is always fun . I'm sure we'll have a good time in Columbus, we always do.
We fly in Monday and fly out Wednesday. It sounds like there will be a lot of walking around and checking stuff out, eating , with maybe one or two touristy things to do. That's fine with me. Some of our trips end up being work because we try to cram so much in. Something low speed might just be nice for a change.

If it's warm enough in April you could go check out all the girls in bikinis at the oval on OSU campus. The campus itself is actually pretty nice beyond that aspect too. Lots of interesting architecture.
You should definitely take in a public skating session at the Ice Haus [attached to the arena]. If you go to a weekday noon skate there's generally no one there and it's a very nice facility.
When walking around, downtown, don't miss a chance to drop into the Statehouse. It's been very nicely restored to Victorian era condition and is quite impressive. If art is your thing, the Columbus Museum of Art is not a far walk and has an ecxcellent and diverse collection. Not sure when the AAA baseball season begins, but the very pretty home of the Clippers is right across the street from the Arena. Eat, drink, and be merry, lots to do!
I saw something on the team's website about once a year with a Military ID I could get 2 free tickets. Does anyone know the process for this?
Is there a way to get them now if I am trying to come for a game at the end of March? My main concern would be to drive from Va to there, and then the game be sold out, etc.
