Just an explanation of how Ovechkin scored and it was fine.
The goalie went to play the puck out of the crease, and covered it instead, the referee told him to put the puck back in play. It was either what he did or the goalie was going to get a penalty for delay of game, obviously he wishes he took the delay of game now.
I have to say, awesome referee if you ask me to notice what happened and make that call correctly. I've seen the NHL referees completely ignore it.
The commentary by Melrose and Levy was BRUTAL. So unprofessional!
ESPN's feed had the crowd turned down for some strange reason. Also big fail.
The game it self was terrible on the awful NHL sized ice in Prague. Worse KHL gave i have seen all season. It was just bleehhh.
I think had more fun watching Pro Beach Hockey in the 90s on ESPN2. It would be a lot more fun if ESPN aired some NCAA hockey regularly once or twice a week.
Was it, I couldn't tell. The play was so slow at times I just assumed the game is being played on the big ice. Maybe it was the camera angles that fooled me.
It's just a different brand of hockey I suppose. I'll be moving to Prague shortly so I better get used to it.
it was a big ice. there were changes made in that arena just before this season.
I thought it was a good game. I will enjoy watching the "European" style of play, more play-making and skill. There were a couple good hits, and nice to see more straight hockey than goonery.
My only gripe was the North American announcers. I seriously wanted them to choke on their mics and die. There were stretches where they didn't even talk about the game, just the lockout and what's going on in North America, and as if any hockey that isn't strictly NA style (rough and tough) it sucked. Saying Europeans never block shots, it's just by accident, and all the other crap they spewed. Getting hard-ons for Chara and Ovechkin, yet bashing basically anyone who hadn't play in the NHL. IDK the commentators really bugged me, and they seemed to degrade anything and everything that wasn't NHL... They even basically said they hope no other NHLers go to Europe because none of them belong there, they should be playing in the NHL, blah blah. They just really bugged the hell out of me, I just wish I could watch the game and have commentators talking about the game at hand.
Edit: I apologize for my somewhat strong language, I just really hated listening to Melrose and the other idiot this evening.

Reason: take it down a notch

I couldn't agree with you more. They ruined the game plain and simple.

I hope fans don't make their mind that the KHL is "boring" after this one game.
ESPN could've picked up SKA-CSKA game and it would've been a treat.
Honestly, after last years playoffs, nothing seems boring at this point.
Rangers, Caps, Kings... All played great, mad props, but boring as hell to watch.
