Although the offensive stats are similar, Gardiner clearly has more skill (skating/puck handling), which isn't shown in the stats.

Weir is a bigger body and is more of a prototypical d-man which is also great.

Tough one but I take Gardiner as I think he has the chance to be a special player.

I like Wiercioch's tools he's got some upside but give me Gardiner. His skating is impressive.

its close, but went with Gardiner based on the small samples I have seen from each player this season. Need another year or two to draw a conclusion

Gardiner, higher ceiling.

Wiercioch opened my eyes last game though, good player.

That's a little weird to say considering Gardiner has spent the year in the AHL on a worse team than the Sens and Wiercioch is playing a pretty big role on a better team than the Leafs. But ok

Gardiner is really over rated.

Can skate and make good passes but terrible defensively

That's a little weird to say without pointing out Gardiner had a concussion. But ok.

You'd think a fans of a team decimated with injuries wouldn't be so narrow-minded when discussing players that have recovered from them. But I guess they are determined to remain uneducated about the situation. Carry on.

Averaging 20+ minutes on a Carlyle team = terrible defensively. Gotcha

Gardiner had one of his worst games as a Leaf defensively last night. But sure, go ahead and pretend he's like that usually

Gardiner was very bad last night. I guess it's over for him, the book is out.

Wiercioch is now better.

A bad game against the Boston Bruins? Quick throw him on waivers before his crapppiness infects our whole team.

It's amazing how you can make concluding statements based off of one game. Seriously. Especially when the player in question is only 22 and playing in his second season coming back from a concussion

In that case, Seguin is also overrated!

Even Kessel body checked him to the ground!

Kessel for Selke. He blocked a Zdeno Chara shot

We really can`t tell. The reality is that while different players, their upside is likely not that different. I might remind people that Gardiner was not highly though of until recently. On the other hand Wiercioch was highly thought of, but had to put on weight to realize those expectations.

I think Gardiner has a higher ceiling, but Wiercioch is already a significant contributor...
