How good is this guy? I find it bizarre how the NFL free agency works sometimes. 7th round pick with two career starts gets 3 years 26 milion and 10 mil guaranteed?

That's the thing: nobody knows how good he is.
He had a good college career... but didn't fit the NFL profile so dropped to the last round.
Barely played at all with the Pack... but did play well when given the chance.
He could be the next Hasselbeck, or the next Rob Johnson, or anywhere in between.
Contract isn't bad considering the high premium put on QBs. Considering the grotesque sums thrown at Jackson and Whitehurst the last few years, this is friggen steal by comparison. Jackson is a known nobody, at least Flynn might be something.
Sad Viking woe: Flynn got less guarenteed money than Carlson.
Really a no-lose move for the Seahawks. If he pans out they got their starter at a solid price for the next 3 years. If not, Jackson's here this coming season, and then he's a FA after that and Seattle can go into the 2013 draft looking for a QB. And if Flynn is epicly terrible, they're only on the hook for $10 million of his contract and they could cut him over the next couple of off-seasons and owe little or nothing at all.
The question for Seattle is going to be how healthy his supporting cast is. Rice is coming off shoulder surgeries, Williams' leg was pretty nastily broken and I don't know what his timetable is. So that leaves them with Baldwin, Tate, and Obumanu who are all decent, but not exactly set to be gamebreakers. It puts a lot of pressure on Lynch as well.

Uggh, Jackson and Whitehurst were terrible here. Hopefully this guy works out (looked amazing in week 17 last year, lol).

I expect Zach Miller to get back to 700-800 yards as a TE this year with Carlson gone.

I expect Zach Miller to get back to 700-800 yards as a TE this year with Carlson gone.
Carlson spent the entire season on IR. Cameron Morrah and Anthony McCoy did get catch some passes for the team last year, but the two of them combined were only slightly less than Miller's individual total and collectively, Seahawks' TEs only had about 450 yards receiving. Unless they start leaning on Miller more while Williams is out, it just seems like the Seahawks passing game isn't really geared toward targeting the tight ends.
Carlson didn't steal one single catch from Miller.
I would pin Miller's drop to: 1) He is no longer the only viable target on the team
2) Jackson blows
Bingo. He went from being the only guy JaMarcus Russell was physically capable of throwing to, to then the only guy Jason Campbell wanted to throw to. And then in Seattle, just another guy as part of the offense with a QB who preferred to throw to his receivers rather than check down. Zach's just an average TE. Flynn will be leaning on Sidney Rice's vertical ability a lot.
