Great, it still doesn't do anything to help the Canucks, which is my concern, as the Leafs are yours. Hansen won't be moved for less, and Luongo won't be traded for what on are end are spare parts that will have to fight for regular roster spots, value to the Leafs or not.

I'd disagree with that. Gardiner+ for Luongo and Hansen gives us 0 benefit short term, and given their trade history, give very little regard to potential. Plus, we have several defensemen who's ceiling might not be as high as Gardiner, but are ready to make the jump like Tanev has. Not to mention Gragnani was just added. Plus we could end up with another steal in the draft, like Hodson, Jensen, Schroeder and (although he wasn't drafted by us) Howdon. Or we could trade picks and existing prospects for someone of Gardiner's potential.
Said Hansen would betaken out of the trade as one of the changes

I would not trade any one of those Canuck players for anyone of those Toronto players.

Luongo > MacArthur
Luongo > Schenn
Luongo > Gunnarsson

Hansen > McArthur
Hansen > Schenn
Hansen > Gunnarsson

Raymond > McArthur
Raymond > Schenn
Raymond > Gunnarsson

I dont understand these posts, they are beyond ridiculous. Luongo is still one of the top goalies in the league, Hansen is one of the most underrated players in the league, there is zero chance he goes anywhere. Raymond is so underrated here, he is a effective player and a integral part of the team

McArthur is overrated, good fill in player in a perfect spot. Gunnarsson is a bottom pairing dman, nothing special, good enough to be part of the core on one of the worst d's in the NHL. Schenn is young and has potential to be a effective dman, right now he is a liability on a big contract and things are looking real iffy with him.

Huge no from the Canucks side. Just because a lot of people on HF want to hate Luongo doesn't mean that Luongo actually sucks. It just means a lot of people around HF are wrong.

Luongo would not be traded for that lousy package.

Well as a Canuck fan I'd say that this analysis is pure homerism more realistically

Luongo >Schenn or Gunnar or MacA
Hanson >MacA
Hanson = Schenn
Gunaar > Hanson
Raymond < Schenn or Gunnar
Raymond =< MacA

I agree with most of this, except I wouldn't deal Hansen for any of those Leafs.

It's not just his impact on the ice, it's his impact vs. salary - which is key for a cap team.

Hansen at $1.35mill is *MUCH* more valuable than a guy like Schenn at $3.6mill, who'd be our #6 dman... and he's much more valuable to this team than Gunnarsson would be - who as a left handed, left side dman would be on the 3rd pairing for this team (behind Edler and Hamhuis), and that isn't much of an upgrade on Ballard anyways for a bottom pairing role.

And that's also why as a Canuck fan, I have ZERO interest in MacArthur who Leaf fans throw into every thread with the Canucks. We don't want, or have the space for a $3.25mill MacArthur. The Canucks are a cap team... they have actually played above the cap for the past 2 years (thanks to some brilliant cap work by Gilman). A player like MacArthur at $3.25mill has no value to such a team. None at all!

Hansen though is too valuable to the Canucks to move him... the Canucks need more players like him - players with a low salary who outperform their contracts. You move any of those kind of players on your team, you have bigger cap issues to deal with.

i highly doubt these two teams will ever trade since what happened before with Burke and Nonis.

well maybe u should be face palming the OP then no?

i just suggested a couple changes that made the value less of a landslide in the Leafs favor.

'nucks passed and Salo already said he's NOT retiring. Luongo has a lot more value than most fans think. Probably 'cause the 'nucks are the most hated (or 2nd) in the league and he has been the face of the franchise.
