It would be way too premature to trade him after one average year. I think a new coach is the most obvious change but it scares me when I look at the available coaches. AV is simply a better coach than anyone available. You guys would be okay with MacT coaching the Canucks? I wouldn't.

One of Schneider and Luongo are gone. Luongo is a solid goalie but Schneider is younger and for that reason I want him to stay. It just makes more sense. I think Tampa would be a great place for him, especially since he would be back in Florida.
Why does everyone assume Tampa will want Lou? Now don't get me wrong Lou is a great goalie, and a significant improvement on what Tampa has but why would Tampa pursue Lou? If the price people think is going to be dirt cheap as many Canuck fans seem to believe then New Jersey would be the main choice. I can see Broduer retiring this year, and NJD will be actively pursuing a goalie this year. If Broduer doesn't retire this year, he will next for sure. NJD has 20+ million in cap room at the end of this season, with huge priorities on Parise and goalie.

Tampa will be looking for a younger goalie. Schneider, Bernier, blah blah ... you know all of them by now. But the reason a younger goalie is to develop with younger players with the team. Having Stamkos, Hedman, Conacher, Panik, and Aulie hopefully reaching full potential in a couple years having a younger goalie who is also hitting his prime at that time would make Tampa frightening.

And there is no need for a fire sale in Vancouver. Coaching change maybe though. Having a fire sale this year would be like buying a new car because you got a flat tire. Missing your number 1 goal scorer, having Keslar playing like crap and diving all over the ice, and having the defence playing like total crap are Vancouver's downfall as of right now. On the good side though they have been getting chances, playing a good cycle, but without Daniel it's hard to put in the puck. Plus Quick = Brick Wall. The biggest stand out for Vancouver was Lou in games 1 and 2. He did all he could but the defence failed him. In game 3 the defence still had shaky moments but it was 100% better than games 1 and 2. Schneider played great, but he IMO had more help than Lou did.

Find a way to get rid of a few players such as Ballard and Manny. Let go of Salo as well.

Then go out and sign Weber. Yes. I know it's a pipe dream and he's going to re-sign but I'm just thinking here.

Eventually get to a roster that looks like this.

Sedin-Sedin-Nash
Booth-Kesler-Higgins
Burrows-Pahlsson-Hansen
Bitz-Lapierre-Kassian
Weise

Weber-Tanev (just throwing pairings together)
Hamhuis-Bieksa
Rome-Gragnani
Alberts

Luongo
Lack

I think that team can win a Cup. Only issue is that we can't trade away Edler without knowing Weber is coming back or else there's a massive hole on our blue line.

Does it fit the cap? Not quite sure but it must be close. I'm just on my phone right now so I'm in no position to be crunching numbers.
Not enough. Take out both teams 1st round picks and it's the kind of deal CBJ should be trading Nash for. Maybe they'd have to throw in a little something else, but not the 2nd overall pick.

Ya Purcell is a great player. He has just been buried by the amount of Talented forwards above him in Tampa though. He still is a 20 goal scorer, and a great talent. He might do well to go to the Canucks.

Actually Loungo fits what Tampa needs right now similar to what he did in Vancouver. Next year we would potentially have Lou and Garon (one of the most underrated goalies in the league IMO), and then the year after when Garon's contract runs out, we move Tik up from Norfolk. He gets to be a back-up behind Lou for a number of years so he has time to learn and grow (similar to Schneider). In 4-5 years if Lou starts to drop off, there is an option to move him to the minor leagues for a smaller salary hit, and then we have Tik ready to go at an elite level. Tik is going to be a great goalie, but he still needs time (3-4 years). If he gets thrown into the fire again like this year, it wont help him at all.

What burying by great talented forwards do you speak of? Stamkos, St. Louis, Malone, Connolly and Vinny? Purcie played top 6 and most nights top line, he had his best season of his career because he was given the shot to shine on a line with Stammer. He's not being buried by other talents, he's been given his shot and solidified a position as a top 6 on Tampa. Why is it being mention he is being moved?

That is such a poor plan. So you would rather take a 5.5 9 year contract from Lou and depend on moving up Tik than let's say getting a younger goalie signing him to 4 or 5 years seeing how he does and then regardless have the same option with Tik just dont have to fiddle with waivers and paying half the salary left on Lou (which isn't much but the cap hit is still there at 2.3 mill). for 4 years? You act as if Lou is a stop gap goalie, at 9 more years he is anything but.

Tony Gallagher ‏ @tg_gman

Luongo has an out in is deal in two years and whichever club holds his contract has one two years after that. It's a 4-year deal now.

Well here's a different one, preparing for everyone to hate it.
If they do want to move Kesler

Kesler for Little + 9th 2012 + 2nd 2013

Very similar to the Carter deal Jets get a guy that they know and have experience with from AHL days. Hope that they can get him back to playing the way he was the last 2 years.
