although i dont mind the celebration, It's gonna be funny when the next game a team come froms behind to tie the Oilers, you just know the other team is gonna mock that lol
Yakupov didn't need to take the whole ice like that. It was over the top.
It would be hilarious if another player who scored on the oilers sometime next week did that EXACT SAME celebration to mock yakupov. Also, I guarantee you that many players won't like those types of celebrations if Yakupov keeps doing them including his teammates. No way I'd stick up for my teammate if he did something like that after I passed him the puck that allowed him to even get the goal in the first place.
Lastly, the issue is a big deal because many people say it is. Many of you are saying it's not a big deal, but are ignoring the fact that so many people have reacted negatively. That in it of itself makes it a big deal…If you haven't played ice hockey before, don't comment and expect to know what you're talking about regarding celebrations because you don't.
The point is Yakupov doesn't care nor should he care what other players who are whiny and bitter think about it.
Plenty of people played hockey in the past and think it was fine. Over the top =/= something terrible.
If Yakupov's celebration is something that keeps you up at night, makes you mad, or makes you a whiny *****, then I would say you have a LOT more to worry about than a silly celebration.
I also find it funny a lot of skill players around the league said it's fine, but other players and people on the internet feel they know more than elite players.
Guaranteed put into his skates 80% of the people here would do the exact same thing. Its not like he skated past the kings bench flipping them off, he slid across the ice on his knees FFS. People need to relax
You have to remember Yakupov is still a kid. He could be a lot worse personality-wise (see: Bryce Harper). If he makes a habit of celebrating like this, then I could understand people being upset about this.

Yea. Great plan. He'll get mocked and called classless more than Yak.
I can tell you know a lot about team play. Please, continue!
Probably due to the reverse happening a lot too... no?
Like I said earlier I think if the Subban's, Crosby's, Burrow's of the NHL did this in the exact same situation some of the people who are supporting it would make a huge huff about it.
Great. The point, then (intentional or not)?
That's right: everybody grow up and drop the pettiness. Accept that these complaints are rarely based on any objective, legitimate concern, and are all about fan bases being hormonal, adolescent girls.
It's settled then. Let's put the thread to rest and commit to entitle future players that show emotion upon scoring goals of significance to their energetic response.
I thought it was the NFL that was considered the No Fun League. NHL: Nyet Happiness League?

It's not a question of knowledge. People can't have opinions?

They can.
I was responding to someone claiming it was over the top and classless because they played hockey they understood why something like that was frowned upon and people who didn't clearly don't know what they're talking about.
Love the celebration. NHL players should take a lesson from NFL players and start doing celebrations after every goal. At the end of the day, its entertainment, and a celebration is pretty damn entertaining.
Did the Kings win the cup on opening night? I saw a bunch of their players lifting the cup again. I mean, no one in their right mind would skate the cup around on opening night, right?
Let Nail play.
The Kings ARE the Stanley Cup Champions until somebody else wins the cup. The can parade it around every game if they like. What does this have to do with the topic on hand?
Read the thread....there are people that agree with him. That makes them stupid? By what standard? Yours?
Edit: Whoa...my bad read your post wrong. read it as "weren't stupid enough..." But still, calling people stupid because they don't agree with you, seems a bit over the top.
Yes I do think it is stupid to get upset about literally nothing.
It's very easy to see who's never played sports in this thread
So many crybabies in this thread. It was his first big goal in a clutch situation, and it's a dream come true for a kid who came over here at age 16 to make the NHL and be able to score those kinds of goals. It was an emotional series of events, let him enjoy it. Sometimes I feel like members here are registered communists.
In fairness to them most of them loved it and understood the context because they actually watched the game. Only the usual few are trolling.
Yeah, thats why I made sure I used the word "some". Its always just a few Canuck fans that ruin the reputation of the rest.

Crosby, it would just be weird becasue we've seen him score iconic goals before and his reaction is different (omg he threw his gloves). Burrows has a history of disrespect in the league, so it would assumed to be in the same light. Subban, I'd laugh, same as now. Unless I just saw a highlight and didnt know the context. The I would think its too much, like many in this thread. But I would read the comments and realize I didnt know the context, and I wouldnt comment.
... but thats just me
