Sporting events on tv: To watch live or on dvr

which way do you all prefer your sports coverage. do you have to watch straight away as the event unfolds or do you prefer to wait a bit. i personally cant watch sports live because their is absolutely no way im gonna watch advertisements. i hate the wasted time on commercials a hockey game takes 2 1/2 hours maybe more with OT and a shootout plus a 3 intermission if its playoff time. golf takes 5 1/2 hours, f1 runs 2 1/2 hours, ufc stuffs tons of commercials into their network broadcasting. its just unbearable but i know some of my friends who have to have it live.

Sports are meant to be watched live. I know you can breeze through a DVR recording of a game in less than an hour, but watching the game in real time is just so much better. It's also nice to not have to worry about the outcome being spoiled.

I don't get how people can watch entire games from earlier that day. Why not just watch the highlights? Do you not lose the suspense knowing you can just look up the score?

I can only watch live, if I miss it then I'll get score alerts and watch the highlights.

Recorded is for when I have something to do, something's on at the same time, or something on at 4:30 in the morning. Live is far better.

Live live live

Even when the WJC was on at like 3 AM I'd still watch live. It'd get ruined so fast once I woke up at the normal time anyway

Flip the channel, browse my iPhone/iPad, or just sit through and watch the commercials... they're not torture for me lol. Really not that tough to deal with. *shrugs*

Between twitter, facebook, texts etc I can't DVR and not know the outcome, no matter how hard I try.

The only sport I do it for is F1 since that's on at 5 or 6 am in the morning and it's only as a backup in-case I don't get up for whatever reason.

Live or highlights.
I cannot motivate myself to watch an entire match if not live.

Even if I don't know the outcome I can't watch something on DVR. I've tried, but it's not the same.

If I don't catch it live I don't watch it at all.

For all of the Red Wings games I wasnt able to watch live, which was a lot (mainly cuz of work), i would set to record it. when i got home, (usually about 45 min into the game) i would watch from the beginning, fast forward the commercials and INT. Usually i would catch up to it being live in the 3rd period.

Easily the best option, awesome to miss int and commercials and have the game end same time as live

Thw whole thrill is gone when you watch it time-delayed. And if you don't want to be spoiled, you basicly have to avoid the whole internet incl. Twitter, Facebook etc.

World swimming championships were last week, and for the days when NBC was only offering tape delay coverage, instead of watching tape delay on the nice large HDTV, I found myself watching live coverage on a shady Eurosport feed in a 2"x2" inch computer window with constant porn services pop-ups.

I can't watch recorded games. I don't want to cheer like an idiot when my team could have already lost in reality.

I would honestly just follow the score on my phone rather than watch a game that happened a several hours ago. I just can't stay focused knowing that everybody else knows the outcome while I'm sitting here pretending that I'm watching it live.

Because i hate them. if i only have 8 hours of free time to do things i please why waste an hour or more of that time watching commercials. if i wait 1 hour or maybe 2 depending on the event i can do something enjoyable for an extra hour and i dont get my life sucked away by a dumb ass commercial over and over again.

i always figured i hate commercials more then other people and this thread sure proves that point. i dont remember if i mentioned or not earlier but if i listen to the radio during commercials i turn the radio off for 5 minutes so i dont hear radio commercials which is worse then tv commercials.
