Why would Pittsburgh trade any asset for an overpaid injured product with declining production?

4.25 million for a guy that played 56 games and posted 29 points and hasn't played a single minute this season? What is his exact worth? Not much

GMJN has orchestrated a mass exodus of Dallas' old guard since he signed on. Robidas and Morrow represent the last of Dallas' past. He's unhappy with his role, and Dallas has younger players better suited for a Bottom 6 role. Tangradi isn't an ideal return for Brenden, but I don't think Dallas will find ton of value around the league for him.

Ryder on the other hand is a valuable asset that IMO would command two nice assets at the deadline. I'd love for Dallas to be in the mix for a playoff spot on April 3rd, but this team has a ton of holes. The only way that happens is if Lehtonen stays healthy, and he plays at a Vezina level.

EDIT: Just to be clear .. I'm not talking about Tangradi and a 3rd for both Ryder and Morrow. That was one player or the other, and I don't think Ryder is available yet. I don't think the person I quoted was either. I saw the trade proposal for both in this thread, but I think Dallas maximizes their assets by trading them separately.
Ok there we go, thats what i had trouble understanding.

Of course you do, but what team wants your futures by helping you make them worse.

In other words, why would a team take your 1st round pick for a top 6 winger when that top 6 winger is going to help ensure that the pick is in the 27-30 range?

well we have a stock pile of D prospects, the amount we win after the trade has no effect on what those guys turn in to...I think thats what he means
