This is false. If CLB offered the right package, I wouldn't be opposed to it, but honestly, with them rebuilding, I don't see the proper pieces being offered or shipped out to make a deal.

that's not what I said...and it's not an either/or situation. Just because you are aiming for a cup run doesn't mean you don't care about your future.
Gaborik isn't helping them right now, and he's not a part of their future. So trading him doesn't hurt this season or the future.
No rebuilding team is going to trade youth and prospects for a 31-year old with one year left. At the same time, a contender, isn't going to get rid of their top players to take on Gabby.
So in my mind, the best fit is a fringe team that has a depth but a need for scoring. The Nashville Predators, the St. Louis Blues are two examples that come to mind - both are deep and full of solid players but lack a true superstar scorer. The Jackets obviously are most likely not one of those teams, but as of now are 3 points out of 8 and their new front office may want to move some of the long term deals done by the previous regime (Tyutin, Umberger, Brassard)
As far as the not wanting to trade him to be in the division, he can sign in the East again in a year as a UFA anyway. They lost Prust to a division rival didn't they?
One situation that comes to mind is the Marty Havlat for Danny Heatly trade, where teams swapped disappointing high priced forwards. Obviously, Gabby is better than those guys and I'm not sure there is an exact equivalent out there now but we've seen guys swapped before in "change of scenery" deals like that.
