If I was EDM or TML or something I'd take Weber to satisfy their need for a veteran star leader the young players could look up to. But ideally, I'm in a situation where I can take the guy I like the best and it's Pietro. He's just too high end in the important facets of the game these days.

Weber all day. If his whole team wasnt hugely underperforming he wouldnt be sitting with 0 points.

I honestly sure if Weber is better right now.. Last year he was but he also got to play with Suter...We will see how Weber comes along as he gets used to life without being paired w another top 10 dman.

A year ago, I would've said Weber. Pietrangelo's play since January 2012 has been incredible. Weber is a hell of a defenseman and it's still close, but Pietro is better now and will be in the future.

Weber having a tough season, but he's the winner. He's playing with a new partner who is effectively a rookie (though Trotz has been swapping up pairings the last few games) on a team that has by far the worst offense in the NHL (look at SF/G; we're #30 like 15% behind #29; same with GF/G). His lack of points is not surprising.

Pietro is good and it's close. I think you'd be happy to have either.

If there's one thing I learned from HF, its that ol' Piets is already a top 3 dman in the league.

I believe a lot of people would agree with this. Not just Blues fans and HF. He was 4th in Norris voting last year and he didn't really hit the next level until January 2012.

Pietrangelo is going to show everyone why he's going to be the best defenseman of the next decade this season.

Weber is better.

I would rather have Piets on my team tho. Fact that Shea signed an offer with Flyers got to do with it as well.

Who's better, and who would you rather have on your team are completely different questions. Weber, right now is better. Who would I rather have on my team, Pietrangelo, especially if you consider the contract.

The only defenseman in the league I'd consider for a franchise over Pietrangelo is Karlsson. And that's pretty much the closest debate I can think of in hockey.

The answer to this is Pietrangelo, I believe that Pietrangelo, Karlsson, Weber and Chara are the best defenseman in the league, but that Pietrangelo will probably continue to improve at the fastest rate.
