I just find it perplexing that Scott Upshall, who had all of 5 points in 26 games last year while getting paid 3.5 million, is one of the biggest whiners.
Yes, because everyone can afford to take an AIRPLANE to PRACTICE. Talk about putting your foot in your mouth.
A little context, perhaps?
Quote:
When Price began playing minor hockey at 10, the closest teams were 320 kilometres east in Williams Lake.
So he and his father Jerry drove the 640-kilometre round trip three times a week for practices and games, until Jerry decided to put his pilot's licence to use.
"Eventually it got to be a lot of hours in the car so he just bought an airplane so he could fly it," Price explained.
At $13,000, the four-seat Piper Cherokee wasn't fancy.
I'm specifically talking about these self righteous, self entitled brats.. I'm not painting every NHL player that way at all. I'm sure there are hundreds of NHLPA members who would have taken the NHL's latest deal and ran with it but their voice is never heard.
Some of that is their fault.. we need more players speaking out against Fehr.. we know from some insiders that they do, infact, exist. I get not speaking up before, the backlash from their "brethren" would have been intense.. but now's the time to speak up.
How do we know that?
There are 750 players. How many are against the NHLPA. This is all speculation.
And just because some support the NHLPA doesn't mean that they are greedy. Many who support the NHLPA would be financially better off signing right now.
How many players are doing that?
People should quit painting all of the 750 or so players with one brush. After reading that load of hogwash from the so-called moderate owners saying that they 'just want hockey back', I'm surprised that posters are not up in arms like they were when the players spouted the same nonsense.
Very true. I wish more people on this site would look at things with a clear head. Also, I don't think you can point this all at the PA like Bettman is trying to in his presser. Both sides are at fault.
I'm mad at both sides... but I understood Fehr's point that a 10 year deal is a long time. There could be around 40% new NHLers playing under a CBA they weren't part of the negotiating process.
That said.. I don't think it's a friggin deal breaker. ugh.
Then lets make a yearly CBA so each player can get in there say If it's good enough for the players now, it should be good enough for the players 10 years from now.
cottie Upshall Tweets "Plain and simple these owners think they can break us apart. GOOD LUCK! We r stronger than we've ever been and r behind Fehr %100."
Really, congrats Mr. Upshall. You are truly clueless. You don't understand why the finances of the NHL need an overhaul...it's because of players like you. Overpaid, 3rd line (4th line) plugs who make 3.5 MILLION dollars a year to score 2 goals in 25 games. I'm not even sure I can name a player who has a worse $/production ratio, maybe Komisarek. I can name a ton of people who would do what you do for 1/10 of the money, so stop acting like you're irreplaceable. You are truly a spare part, in every sense of the word, except that spare part cost a ton. There's no doubt about the fact that Florida is pretty dumb for signing you, but I'm afraid if that if the NHL keeps losing money we will see contraction, and players like you will have to toil away in the ECHL.
I am also speaking very rationally to the players. No cursing, no name calling. Just putting them on blast and letting them know that many fans are no longer behind them. Trying to get them to just think, a little bit, that maybe they're wrong.
Erik Johnson, for example, has "blessed to play the sport I love" right in his twitter profile. I think he should be put on blast for not acting very "blessed" right now.
This is exactly what I'm saying. Everybody be rational, and don't make yourself sound stupid. No threats, or saying immature things like ''I hope you die'', etc. Please don't go after every player on twitter either like the ones who've stayed silent. All these big mouths today let them know how you feel.
I don't think this is true anymore after yesterday's events, but once again I must reiterate that I have no idea why people insist on picking sides at all. Neither could care any less about us.
I couldn't agree more. It's hard to feel any sympathy for either side. In the end, it's the fans who love hockey who will suffer a third work stoppage in 17 years because of greed on both sides.
Then lets make a yearly CBA so each player can get in there say If it's good enough for the players now, it should be good enough for the players 10 years from now.
Well the last CBA was good enough for the owners then, so by your logic it should be good enough for em now. Right?
