2012 top D vs previous years

Since the Oilers need a good defenceman and are likely going to be in a position to draft one, I'm wondering how the top guys from 2012 (Murray, Dumba) compare to previous top defenceman.

How would you rank these players as prospects at the time they were drafted? (or now for the 2012 guys)

Didnt include Murray or Dumba as they are not drafted. Lots of hype around them, however very weak draft with barley any offensive pottential to knock them off of their podium. Most of these guys were slotted ahead of offensive powerhouse players. But if they were all in their "draft years" and they hadnt yet played a game in the NHL. This is how i would see it shaking out.

Basically what I'm looking for is how they rate compared to those other defenceman as prospects. Obviously we don't know how the 2012 guys will develop, but I'm wondering how they compare going into the draft.

I get the sense that Murray/Dumba/Etc are a clear level below the likes of Doughty, Hedman, Larsson, and Pietrangelo. Is that true?

He is rating them based on what they were like before draft. Alzner being best D in Caps is irrelevant.
