TV: Spartacus: Vengeance

I just saw this show for the first time last night and I couldn't believe people like it. The dialogue is awfully written and awfully acted. Why do they leave out words like "my" and "the" occasionally? "When eyes closed," "when signal is given," "OR DIE IN ATTEMPT," etc. It got to a point where I thought my TV was skipping in a sporadic, weird fashion, and then after that I thought it might just be a joke. The profanity seems tacked on and doesn't flow like it did in a show like Deadwood. Everything is dark and blue-ish with the whole unoriginal 300 aesthetic, and during some of the fight scenes it looked like it was intentionally bad with how obvious the green screen was.

Truly, truly terrible.

There's really no explanation.

It's awfully written, awfully acted, the sex and violence are completely over the top, most of the characters are very black and white (no Roman has ANY redeeming qualities whatsoever), etc.

I realize it's terrible.

And yet, somehow, I can't stop watching it.

Holy hell the finale was so sick! I can't believe they killed off so many characters.

Say what you will about the dialogue but the storlyine writing is excellent and overall the show is very well acted.

I think they are trying to speak the dialogue in English using Latin grammar. Latin lacks indefinite and definite articles (the, a, an).
