Perfect example of low little it actually matters who has an extra letter stitched to their sweater. The leaders will lead, the followers will follow. It makes no difference who is named the official chief executive leader of the motivation department by the org. Pence wasn't even on the team until the trade deadline.

Not having a C or an A on their sweater isn't going to prohibit a leader from stepping up or make others not take them seriously because the org hasn't blessed them with a piece of cloth.

Never got why fans put so much stock into it.

Completely agree. Everyone acts like theres some magical power in the C and the As and different people wearing them will yield different results. At the end of the day, its the same damn group of guys who have no leadership abilities.

Also agree. The C and A is just a symbolic gesture. Leaders will naturally lead, with or without a letter on their chest.

While it is symbolic and won't stop new leaders from developing on their own, it definitely has an impact on the guys who are followers. If their captain is not reinforcing the coach's message, it doesn't make it any easier to get the other guys to buy into the message. Oh and a captain should never say or imply that he is above the team's M.O.

When couture speaks it sounds like it came off a cue card handed out by the coaching staff about what is ok to say. Never will you hear him say that one team is harder to play against than another, it's always "it's hard to win in this league," almost word for word every time.

There are 3 main categories of people as far as this topic goes:

1.) Those that automatically dispute everything said/done by authorities above them.

2.) Those that are company men and willingly go along with what they are told.

3.) Finally those that consider what they are told and make up their own mind.

Which one do you think that couture falls under? Now, consider he may be #3 but have the smarts to not air dirty laundry outside of the locker room. In all fairness, unless you know him well you really have no idea what leadership qualities he may or may not have.
