2314, only the second time they've cracked 2000 in Johnstown this season (drew 2653 in their War Memorial opener).

Any word on whether this is the last split season? Mom and sister ended up visiting me here, so I didn't get a chance to catch any of the games last weekend.

Looks like that junior team (from Alaska!) is now a done deal.

Team will not be named the Jets or the Chiefs.

Am I right in understanding that the ECHL has "Chiefs," and if so ... why?

Nice article and video from the press conference in Johnstown

(HERE)

According to the article the teams name, colors, and logo must all be determined in the next week....

We have an owner with deep pockets, the full backing of the business community, the full backing of the politicians, former Chiefs managing the team, $8 to $12 ticket prices, and an immediate commitment to spend $100,000 marketing the team. Looks like we will finally have a professionally run hockey organization! So far they are doing everything right.

There was a team a few years ago in the AAHL I believe that was called the Troy (NY) Slapshots - I think one of the owners had mentioned that they would not be using that name as well.
Just want the colors to be different than BLACK & GOLD - we are Johnstown, NOT Pittsburgh.
I liked the name the AHL Albany Devils used to have RIVER RATS and there are plenty of them in the rivers in Johnstown.

Coincidentally, the Slapshots' old coach (Joe Selenski) was the first Chiefs coach and he brought some of the players down from New York with him.

If they went with colors, I'd say blue and off-white as a tribute to the Chiefs and Blue Birds.
