Some Oiler fans are going a little far in saying Gagner is a 2 way C, he might be, but he's has a lot of developing to reach there.

He doesn't have the wheels his dad did, but his production is close to the same. First four years at about .5 ppg. Then he exploded. I don't think he'll be as good as his father, but I think we might be better off holding on to him instead of regretting it later. (I.E. Satan)

I am fine with keeping Gagner and looking for size at different positions/roles. The problem with the Oil is our other centers are 6'1 185 (Nuge), 6'1 208 (Horc), and 5'11 185 (Belly). So including Gagner we average 6'0 194 down the middle, none of them very physical (Nuge is decent, the rest sub par), and only one above average in the dot (Belly, Horc is average, the other 2 below avg).

So are we a better team trading Gagner for a bigger C, or buying out Horc and signing someone like Smithson or Boyle to fill that role? And if it comes down to size in the top 6, I'd sooner move Hemsky and let Yak play the right side where he's more comfortable.

Yandle is horribly overrated. I would like him on the Oilers, but not if the asking price is steep. He is expendable for a reason. OEL stole his role.

horribly overrated? he'd be the best defenseman on the Oilers.

he's expendable because of OEL and the fact that they need some real help upfront.

Business of Hockey!

This is the best time to trade Gagner and Hemsky. The are healthy and productive. Value is good. I like them both but we need to exchange them for different type of players. Making the call to trade when they are productive is tough. This is the business of hockey. Give something good to get something good back!

A deal that makes sense needs to be there. Something tells me that right now, it isn't.
