Is it possible to play ME3 and enjoy it without playing the first two? Or will you be completely lost and have no idea what's going on
Depends; if you just want to shoot things and not pay attention to the story and treat it like a typical FPS, then it wont matter, if you are looking to pay attention to the story (it is a very good story) and treat it like an RPG then I would start with the first one.
It is a great trilogy and for as much flak the ending got it is well worth a playthrough from beginning to end.
Not sure what to make of it. Personally when I heard the scuttlebut of citadel themed dlc, I thought it was going to revolve around the reaper take over of the station.
After playing the whole trilogy I have to ask some gamers in here why they thought ME 1 was the best game from the series?
First off, it had the worst combat system out of the three.
But also:
Repetitive side-missions (Driving the Mako after awhile just seemed like a chore instead of it being fun)
Lazy level design (Land on planet, Find the same ol' boring bowl shaped hideout with the same interior, Add in the odd Thresher Maw nest--rinse and repeat.)
Horrible Quicktime Events (Probe bypassing - TOO FAST!!!!)
Annoying enemy audibles ("I will destroy you!" "Enemy incoming!!!!")
Lackluster armor options.
Weak weapon upgrades system (If you have enough of them in your inventory, it takes an considerable amount of time to either convert them to omni-gels or sell them off.)
Yeah Saren was a cool baddie and all but I still don't see how him alone makes the first one better than both ME 2 and 3.
I still believe that ME2 was the best, bar none. However, there were some amazing emotional moments in ME3.
Agreed completely.
The first one was a great way of explaining the main story along with the entire Mass Effect lore, but there's no way that it's better in any aspect than both ME 2 or 3.
ME 3 is arguably the most emotion driven game ever made.
How can any bad guys in the upcoming Mass Effect 4 even top the Reapers???

I dunno... Nostalgic feel and way more things to do I guess. I've already done 3 1/2 playthroughs and still play it every once in awhile. Meanwhile, i couldn't even get halfway through a 2nd playthrough of ME2. Also wasn't incredibly linear like ME2.
I still consider ME1 the best of the series, and one of my favorite games ever. It was a little rough in some areas (although I think the complaints against the combat are overstated), but it easily had the best story of the 3, the best villains, the most customization in weapons/powers, and the only game with a sense of exploration.
ME2 is a solid game in it's own right, but the main story was pointless and it got rid of too many gameplay elements for my liking and it removed exploration altogether. Without the awesomeness of the Suicide Mission I wouldn't consider it as that much better than ME3.
