It's for the kids. Unless you are 12 or less I hope you don't have a terribly strong opinion on this.

The Jets had a lot of stuff to do this summer to get the franchise ready to play in Winnipeg. Getting a new mascot was WAY down the list of priorities.

Mick E Moose is popular with kids, which is ultimately the entire point.

I was wrong. I didn't think they'd keep Mick E Moose, and initially I didn't want them too. But after thinking about it when we first became officially the Jets, I can't think of a good concept for what a Jets mascot would be. So all in all I'm happy I suppose.

Great decision. I have no problem with this.

And for anyone complaining about how a moose has nothing to do with Jets.......tell me, what does a friggen Gopher have to do with being a Roughrider?? lol

Agreed, or a Polar Bear with a Maple Leaf, a Lion with a Senator, a Gorilla with a Sun (Phoenix), a Chicken with a Padre or a whatever Youpee is with an Exposition or Canadiens. Pro sports is riddled with mascots that have no connection to a team's nickname

It's a nice subtle tribute to the past, and an all around classy move by a classy organization

Exactly, it's more a connection to where the team plays.

Congrats guys! He's no Thrash, but he looks great Ironically my prized hockey possession is a Manitoba Moose jersey with "Hedberg" on the back. I like the Moose!

Does anyone remember when the Moose introduced a rival mascot in 1999ish? His name was Mick E Vil and he wore a black leather biker outfit.

Funniest thing ever, his big debut was walking out on one corner of the ice to Bad to the Bone, while Mick E Moose was in the other. It was meant to play out as a soap opera over the course of the season but after they had a little scuffle during an intermission a few games in, a whole bunch of little kids were crying so they scraped Mick E Vil.

Gold.

I love this move.

It's a classy way to tie the history of the Moose to the Jets.

Mick E Moose is definitely better than Benny and it's a nice nod to the previous team that in habited the MTS Center. Like the new look too.

Have to admit though, I was always pretty impressed with the guy who played Benny. had a great arm. Threw many a ball into the upper deck of the old arena

Okay, you have no right to say that. A failure? Get your facts straight! The Moose are the reason we have an NHL team and the MTS Centre so be careful what you say and recognize that many people, including myself were die-hard fans. Also, we had the third best attendance in the AHL during the regular season and our playoff games scored the highest for attendance. We produced many winning seasons and even went to the Calder Cup Final in 2009.

The Stanley Cup Finalists of last year, the Vancouver Canucks were comprised of 2/3rds of former Moose players. Some, that the Moose franchise searched out, scouted, and signed themselves, like Alexandre Burrows.
