the third goal against? i dont think so. laich was the guy that carlson hung out to dry in front of the net. if i recall it was the third line with halpern taking chimera's spot to get two centers on the ice.
ah, ok. I remember that it was Halpern on the ice getting ***** by Staal.
He made how many? Backstrom took over the OT, and he didn't have to do much. It wasn't like he was a stonewall back there.
In the Tampa series, every time we got a goal he gave one up. He did that some last night too. He was flopping on the ice on a cross crease pass. Had he just shifted, it was an easy save.
the tampa series was last season. neuvirth has generally been a pretty solid player particularly when games are in the balance. tampa bay had 4 shots on goal during their OT power play. I dont recall any of them being gimme's.
MP looked good playing with Semin. When you put a guy with Semin that has a little danglation in him, Semin looks to pass it more. Brouwer looked good, I think he is a better fit on 2 than Laich. He still seems like he is favoring his right shoulder.
I was laughing watching Green run around on their first goal.
I was shocked to come home and see in the boxscore that the Caps won the face-off battle last night. From my vantage point, it seemed they got dominated. Was it just generous home score-keeping, or did they legitimately have the advantage?
I was surprised by that also but when you look at the special teams faceoffs, you know the ones that can really make a difference, the Caps got schooled there.
I guess the ones I was really paying attention to because a win would have been important were the ones they lost and the more meaningless ones they won.
Meant to post my impressions of this game yesterday but slacked
Temperature in the building was very cold.
The crowd was rocking. Took a quick camera vid of the into I might try and upload at some point. And loved how there wasn't any thing other than an announcement on winning the SE division. All most felt it was like going to a game in the regular season (in a good way).
The young guns are back...all of them looked good. AO has way more jump than last year.
Was impressed with Ward's board play. At the game Brower didn't seem very noticeable but after watching the telecast it seemed more of a chemistry thing on that line. Hamrlik was steady. Dig the pairing with Green.
Perreault wasn't bad as the 2c. Still doesn't feel like a long term answer there.
