I've been hearing that and yet,
Stats for the Monarchs d-men:
Patrick Mullen 53GP 7G 23A 30P -7 35PM
Thomas Hickey 59GP 2G 20A 22P +12 28PIM
Jake Muzzin 54GP 5G 14A 19P -12 34PIM
Nic Deslausiers 48GP 1G 8A 9P -11 43PIM
David Kolomatis 41GP 4G 15A 19P -1 8PIM
Andrew Campbell 59GP 2G 13A 15P +2 42PIM
Jordan Hill 38GP 1G 2A 3P -6 33PIM
He must be doing something right because his +/- jumps out everytime I look at stats. He's really the only Monarchs d-man that is on the ice for more goals for than goals against. It's not like his offensive numbers are great either so that's not covering his bad defensive play (look at Muzzin and his -12 with 3 less points) There isn't even someone else that has an absurd +/- to match his, so it's clearly not a case of him benfiting from his partner. Unless you want to make the argument that management and the Narchs coaching staff is somehow protecting him, I'd think you can make an argument that the Monarchs are a better team when Hickey is on the ice as I can't think of another way to explain it.
There are wide disparities in +/- among the forwards also. But, as you stated, none of the other defensemen are close to Hickey. I think +/- is a valuable statistic.

Yeah normally i don't put much weight in the +/- stat but it's one of those odd statistics where when there's a huge disparity or abberation in it you have to look at it. Another example would be JJ and his huge - the last few years.

No real shockers other than Moreau, why even bother at this point. King and Nolan I guess had to be listed in case one or both starts to struggle with the big club and needs to be sent down. Also wasn't Legein released awhile back or offered out on loan?

That or if the Kings miss the playoffs, you would for sure want King and Nolan available for the playoffs.
C Jordan Weal (Regina Pats) looks like a good bet to join the Monarchs pretty soon as well, so that should help.

Good call. Didn't even think of that scenario as it's not a sure thing either the Monarchs or the Kings make the playoffs at this point.
Weal I'd expect to join them in case they go deep in the playoffs. Haven't looked at the CHL standings in about a month so I guess there is also the option of Roach, and Andreoff joining as well.

All of Roach, Weal and Andreoff will likely make the playoffs.

Yeah, but it would be considered an upset for either Regina (Weal) or Oshawa (Andreoff) to get past the first round. The first round of the CHL playoffs is usually over at the end of March or beginning of April. The AHL regular season doesn't end until the middle of April.
Highlights of the Monarchs 3-0 win over Springfield last night:
Mullen ripped a slap shot from center ice that beat the Springfield goalie. Legein really did net a nice shorthanded goal and an impressive effort by Kozun to dive and score on the first goal of the game.
Mullen-Hickey
Muzzin-Campbell
Kolomatis-Deslauriers
Hill
I'm not sure of the D pairings sides, and for the forwards maybe switch the position of lines 2 and 3. They mostly roll the top 3 lines, but Clune-Cliche-Lokti is used as a shut down line matching with the other teams best. Of course there is some line shuffling and what not through out the game.
Is Clune playing center? If so, how long has he been at center?
He could possibly be an option for our 4th line center next year.
Nothing against Clune but Richardson(1 year left on his contract), Holloway, Cliche and maybe a guy like Andreof who are natural centers would be my preference for the 4th line center spot if Fraser isn't resigned.
OT: Didn't Kostopoulos play center while he was with the Kings? I believe he did but am not sure anymore?
