But then again, if the guy plays top minutes, is our new go-to guy, scores 60 points, why wouldn't he want to sign a $ 4 to 5 M deal here? Why trade him?

Smith played great! Aside from those 2 weird bounces short side, none were his fault imo. Doan shows up, where is the rest of them?

They showed up later in the game.

I have no clue how to find out TOI, so if anyone can post the three highest and three lowest, that'd be great.

I really hope Sully plays on Monday and Biz sits...what a waste of space.

#11 M. Hanzal C -1 3 21:56
#19 S. Doan RW 2 -1 6 2 20:23
#13 R. Whitney LW 1 E 1 19:23

#89 M. Boedker RW 1 -1 1 11:30
#24 K. Chipchura C E 2 10:39
#12 P. Bissonnette LW E 5:29

Boedker getting played so little makes no sense to me considering the situation we were in most of the game. Torres, Pyatt, and Gordon were not going to help us get back into the game more than Boedker should be able to.

Defense:

#3 K. Yandle 2 E 3 2 31:04
#33 A. Aucoin -3 1 2 20:41
#53 D. Morris -1 3 4 20:04
#23 O. Ekman-Lars… 1 -2 2 19:06
#16 R. Klesla -1 1 2 17:08

Odd seeing Klesla as the lowest.

Keep in mind that Rozi only played 2 and a half. Hope he's okay

Wow that easy huh. lol. Thanks, now I'll know where to look! Thank you!

Biz was the only one with horrific ice time. I can see him getting benched in favor of Sully next game, putting Raffi back on the fourth line.

Chipchura did pretty well. I must admit, I hated the fact that he would be on this team, but as long as Biz sits, I have no issue with Chipchura playing.

As for the Clowe hit on Langkow, anybody else think we will see a Shannahan appearance for that one? lol

They'll have some good motivation for game 2 now, and perhaps some more confidence after the 3rd period play.

Actually think putting Torres on the fourth, and bringing in Sully will make a huge difference. However, adding sully doesn't exactly mean Torres will be the one used on the fourth line.

I agree, but I have to say, Gordon looked good out there. He was constantly fighting for the puck. Can't score if you don't have it. I liked the attempt by DT putting Gordon out there to retrieve the puck. He's really growing on me and I have a Lombardi jersey that I can tear the name off and put Gordon's on. lol

Good call on Klesla getting the lowest ice time. But, Oliver played a GREAT game. His -2 is bad, but his partner was a team leading -3.

Meanwhile, our PK is tied for 24-26. And Edmonton and Winnipeg are both dead last because they haven't played yet.

I'm guessing his rebound control will get better as he gets used to shots coming at him from all directions at all times..

Because if he really doesn't want to be here, he'll eventually turn into Mueller and then we won't get anything for him again.

Mike Smith audio after the game, and on why he continued to play hard.

http://chirb.it/qOdeHN

Sounds like a classy guy. I didn't get to watch the game, I was at work, but FSN is showing a replay at 2:30am, I'll be up watching that!

Kudos to a goalie that gave up 6 goals and still taking an interview.

Good guess.

Not putting this one on Smith, and there's no doubt.

Problem was in coverage, and board work. Well, among other things.

The first three goals were the exact same play. Failure along the boards and ZERO coverage of the third man high. Blown coverage of the high player three times in a row and even with the extra skater that shouldve been covering him trying to get the puck, we failed to do so. It looked like these guys were playing their firwr hockey game. Not the first game of the season but of their lives. Bad news bears, little giants, and mighty ducks bad. Group of under dog misfits, comically bad.

I thought OEL looked fantastic offensively but terrible defensively.

Chipchura was awful at times and awesome at times. Excellent shifts and terrible moments.

Than Smith's would look like the surface of the moon.

I'm thinking this game may do more good then harm, boys.

That's right, the ultimate pessimist is finding the silver lining in this mess.

We've got the oldest team in the league and this night was full of totally obvious, and correctible break downs. Coaching through film has never had a more convenient opportunity than tonight. Just such crystal clear mistakes. These guys have all been around a long time. They can't always look this clueless. No way.
