Smith has looked fine, we just have no puck control, and are chasing everyone and everything in our on zone.

Nerves? Or a sign of the season?

Oh man, that should have been 3-0.

I think it's because we're playing the Sharks. We just don't matchup well against them.

Yeah, as negative as I am on the outlook of this season, even if this game ends up 6-0 it's not fair to try and analyze this one game as some sort of indicator for the other 81. Give it 15 games or so.

Puck control, we have none. We didn't have much last year, and it appears the additions aren't any better at it. It appears the theme this year is to play defense for a minute then dump and change, assuming we don't turn it over in the neutral zone. Hope they calm down in the intermission.

Looking at the goals, I don't think either was really Smith's fault. We've had no sustained offense pressure so far, either.

That is also true.

This was why I was concerned about the Pyatt-Hanzal-Vrbata line. They are having a tough time simply keeping sustained possession of the puck. Move Pyatt back to the 4th line where he will be more effective on the forecheck with Chipchura and Bissonnette. Korpikoski on the 2nd line.

BTW, not saying that is the sole line with horrible puck possession, but the line that stands out as having done nothing positive so far is the Pyatt-Hanzal-Vrbata line....

Yandle almost tapped that puck in his own net.

Agreed, but when down 2-0, us bench fans have to complain about something...

I can only listen to the game on 910. It sounds like a typical game where only the goalie shows up and not everyone else.

Sharks look great as expected but the Yotes gotta be able to get hold of the puck for a sec at least or this is going to get ugly.

Yup, we spent most of the period in our own zone. Lots of bad clearing and neutral zone turnovers. Smith looked OK.

What a train wreck of a period, thank god Smith has us still in the game. Time to shake those cobb webs off Phoenix.

I don't think anything has come out yet, but I can only imagine that what happened really created a lot of issues in the team's head. It's not just the PP goal, but then knowing that one D-man is out 7 seconds into the next PP really created an issue...

They all look kind of lost, the Sharks notwithstanding. Guessing it'll take a few weeks for everybody to get used to the new faces?

They had more goals than we had shots at one point. They need more offensive pressure. Smith looked good. Hope Roszival is okay....

I think moving Pyatt and Boedker to the other lines would be better. Maybe there are some adjustments made

Still playing the whole game in our own end. Zero puck possession. 1 rush and done. Classic example of why this is not entertaining hockey to watch, even if we tighten up the defense. What I expected but still disappointing.

Quite right. It was a very scary moment and I'm sure they'll come out with clearer heads after getting a bit more info, or less from the coaches.
