JMFJ on the wing?

He seems to have all the tools for it, and to fit his style. Would it make sense? Id like to see us try it at some point. With as many pmds as we have and our concerns on wing...

Im sure ill get hammered for the thread but id like to read some of your thoughts.

I've been saying it for 3 years. He'd make a solid top 6 LW.

Johnson - Kopitar - Williams
Gagne - Richards- Brown
Penner - Stoll - Richardson
Clifford - Lewis - Moreau/Hunter

Mitchell - Doughty
Scuderi - Voynov
Martinez - Greene

Everybody wins except for Westgarth, but he's used to not winning.

Doesn't make sense to me, he is arguably our best offensive defenseman, we have a solid veteran top 6, there is no need to rock the boat with an experiment just for laughs. Johnson is young and still has developing to do, if not, I would rather trade him for someone who is a natural in the position like Parise than to goof off and put him in a spot he hasn't played in professionally yet to play a rookie.

My memory might be completely whacked - but I thought he did play wing once. Because of injuries. Maybe when he was with Michigan? I just seem to remember him trying it...
But I'm probably wrong.

I had always wondered what it would be like for JJ to be a winger. Not sure if it would be good or bad.

the question is why? If you want a winger, trade him for a natural winger

One of the reasons Johnson get into trouble on the back end is because he has a poor first step. He is not quick enough to play wing.

You need that separation with the first step, if he is too slow to cover the wingers in his own zone, what makes you thing he will be quick enough to separate from the same players in the offensive zone.

Plus he will be non-existent on the back check going the other way.

That being said, moving him to the front of the net on the PP, may open things up a bit.

Why don't we just put him in net? No +/- for goalies.

If his PP points counted, he'd be fine on +/-

If everyone's PP points counted, he would still be the worst.

It's not a new Kings season until someone asks this question.

He has alrady more carreer points than Westgarth.
I'm sure someone can show him how to fight
