Krüger up, Pirri down

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Marcus Kruger from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs and assigned forward Brandon Pirri to Rockford.

That was fast.

To all you young hockey players out there

If you miss an easy goal, apparently you're going back to Rockford.

No matter what else you did in the game.

Haha! I don't understand this move at all. I thought he looked good with the exception of missing that. Bowman must have a little Q in him.

Wow, they're really really really giving Kruger every chance to prove himself. Call me a pessimist, but I think he still probably doesnt show up in the capacity that we need him to.

Get Pirri on the ice hogs and play him on the 3rd line against the oppositions best and make his only job keping those guys from scoring. If it goes well after 20 to 40 games bring him back.
He does look good (I stand corrected) in the offensive zone but he was ... pedestrian (being nice) in his own zone.

Ugh, I'm gonna start resenting Kruger for this. He's been given shot after shot only to be mediocre and now Pirri who seems to be exponentially better is being sent down.

I guess I look at it like this. If Bolland is out they want Pirri on the roster to add offense. When Bolland is back they want a more defensive grinder center = Kruger.

I don't think it says anything about Pirri. I think it means Bolland is playing tonight.

Kruger or Pirri I say juggle them and keep the guy that sticks and let him make the roster the second half the season.

Pirri wasn't the greatest but Kruger is nothing right now

Pirri had good chances, played OK, but certainly shouldn't be playing in the NHL yet.

That being said, neither should Kruger.

Then send Saad down. Pirri has played much better and I think he even has the second helper on Leddy's goal.

Pirri is a C, Saad is a LW, Pirri isn't learning anything playing on the wing, where as Saad is, and Saad is more effective in his own zone imo.

I don't think Saad should be here either, but it makes more sense to have Pirri play full time at C than part time @ W.

I think you are dead on...but Sevanston's one liner was pretty damn funny anyhow.

Not sure if you meant sent back to Juniors or to Rockford.

Saad can't be sent down to AHL...only back to his Junior team before he has played 10 games, after that he would have to stay with the Hawks for the entire season.

Once he is sent back to Juniors he can't come back.

You could be right, Bolland is back tonight.

I agree

Pirri is very weak defensively and Saad is too young.

I'm fine with this. Kruger and Pirri seem to be in similar spots in terms of development, just with one needing more offense and the other better defense. I thought Kruger was one of the Hawks better players in the last pre-season game he played. I look forward to seeing how he does tonight.

I agree neither should be in the NHL.. Pirri has the tools, but not a NHL body. Kruger has an NHL body and can play defense but lacks on offense.

I'm aware. With Smith/Stalberg/Carcillo back soon, there just isn't room for Saad.

If you honestly think that Pirri wouldn't learn anything being given a top six role playing with Sharp/Toews/Kane/Hossa for the handful of games until we're healthy then we'll just agree to disagree.

Pirri is Top6 or Bust.

His D isn't good enough for the Bottom 6. On the other side, Krüger is good on the D and isn't ready for a Top6 Spot.

Pirri shouldn't have played in the first game when we have Saad as big question mark

Kruger was much better last night, than Pirri was in the first game. That may have been Kruger's best game, thus far, pre-season included. Good PKer, got an assist and could have had another one on a nice set-up to Hossa.

A chip past a defender, an assist on a charmin soft goal and all of a sudden he had a great offensive night?
