It was a good hit, but it did get him in the head mostly due to height.

Yeah, plenty ironic, and maybe morally Cooke had it coming to him.

That said, I think it's exactly the kind of play the NHL is trying to eliminate, and there's no way Sarich isn't disciplined for it. The head was clearly the point of initial contact, and it looked like the contact was made with an elbow.

Full disclosure: replay isn't entirely clear, and I am listening to a Steigerwald call.

People will be praising Sarich in this thread, and it will become pathetic. Despite what Cooke has done in his career, no one deserves a hit to the head... yes, not even Matt Cooke.

The refs are a joke. They cancel the penalties out with Engelland getting 4 despite getting cross-checked in the face. Oh well. These are NHL refs we're talking about...

2 of the 3 angles shown, it looked like Sarich kept his elbow. Reviewable for sure but I'm not sure if a suspension will come out of it.

Don't think that was a headshot, mostly body and it may have at the end clipped his chin, no suspension.

watching the replay and it wasnt that bad at all, the cross check he gave the Pen player afterwards was worse

seemed to me it should be one of those 2 minute minors for a headhit and nothing more, unless he really clocked Cooke in the head with his elbow need to see better replay.
