Jaffe Back Covering Isles?

Just saw a commercial for Hockey Night Live, and it looks like Jaffe is filling the Islanders seat on the panel. Interesting...

If true I'll take it, but doesn't erase the mistake that is butch goring.

Move Goring back to the sidelines where he's only annoying for a few minutes each night instead of for 2 hours.

Totally agree, Billy and Butch just need to switch places now.

What does it say about our owner that he switched them in the first place?

that he A) has no sense of what his fanbase actually wants & B) is WAYYYYY to sensitive to criticism.

Billy Jaffe was a homer in his own right. but Butch is in another stratosphere of homerdom.

Jaffe at least called it like it was. He didn't sugar coat it or anything. If the team or a player played horribly he let it be known.
Hail Jaffe!

Please Billy, take your rightful place as Howie's color man, and take the joke Butch out of here.

I think he is only representing the Isles on HNL not getting in the booth or doing any game sideline work.

Thing is...I don't think Jaffe was a homer at all. As other posters have said - He called it like he saw it, and that included criticism of Islander players.

Now the fact that Goring cannot even pronounce the names of the players of the TEAM HE REPRESENTS is so embarrassing that it speaks volumes that Wang would allow such a person to be employed around the Islanders. It is literally the equivalent of Mangano calling it an "areener."

Both guys should be replaced post haste.

When Grabner got his hat trick against Buffalo and Wishart scored his first NHL goal, Butch said, "I'm not sure Michael Grabner doesn't get this goal." Grabner wasn't on the ice

thing that bothers me about Butch more than the poor pronunciations, is that I never learn anything new about the game.

I'm 30 years old. I've been following the sport for 17 years, and there's a ton that I still don't know. I haven't learned anything since Butch took over.

It's going to be brutal in 2 or so years when Howie takes the Rangers job & we're stuck with Chris King & Butch Goring.

I assume it's possible, but I'm not sure how I could agree with a post more than this. Maybe Billy Jaffe has some answers...

I think if Jaffe weren't as good at what he does, he could be behind the bench as an assistant. His insights are spot on and he seems to get detailed info not only on our team but the opposition.

And as said above, we learn more nuances of the game with him, unlike the clichéd spew we get from Butch. Drop the puck!

That Jaffe got plenty of work in the playoffs speaks well of how hockey media looks at him. Didn't he do color for a conference championship game or two?

Honestly, it was one of the dumbest moves Wang has made. We'll be lucky if we ever get someone as enthusiastic and smart about the Islanders as he was.

Piss poor decision to move Jaffe out of there in the first place. Hopefully, he is actually back!

Ok so yes I miss Jaffe too becuase he said things how he saw them etc.. But dude give butch a break...hes not good at what he does but he got better over the year. I dont know whos met him but hes one of the nicest guys ive ever met and hes trying to do well. give him some slack, he may not be the best out there or even "good" but how many of you would actually do much better ? Hes the reason we have 4 cups and yall talk so much **** on him for not being the greatest color guy big whoop. If I had to have a sub par color guy its fine bc he also was a huge part in bringing this franchise 4 cups...which without butch goring we and this franchise wud be a bigger joke then we are making him out to be. respect goes a long way.

Butch doesnt annoy me so much...its perspective to me
Getting angry at how much our color guy sucks (and he isnt that great, but getting a little better)

Things that upset Pnut
1-My sister (a big one)
2-The way the gov't is in cohoots with the Banks & Wall Street, thankfully people are standing up finally.
3-NYRanger fans that act every year that there buying spree over the summer (when girls are still in bikinis) matters dick.
4-People who hate the NY Yankees

Butch Goring is not among the special few

It is funny how I was one if not the ONLY person on this board who liked Jaffe from the start. Jaffe got better over time and so will our Butchie. Well maybe....

I like Jaffe and Butch Goring did get better, he did less mispronunciations and actually did do some analyzing of the game.....lets give him one more chance

C'mon guys(?)
