There's no doubt they'll improve.. but how bad the coaching was takes away some of my hope.

Joetimo I 100% agree with you on the remarks made by the canadian media. There's no reason to keep saying Atlantas fans didn't understand the game

I have yet to be impressed with Wheeler, he's not a first line player (or even a second line forward) on very many NHL teams.

Oduya was brutal!

Bogosian is no Dougherty!

Buff seems to play his own game in his own world.

McLean is really really slow!!!!!

Goaltending was below average!

plus side

Other D were pretty solid

Fourth line played well

Kane was a force, should get more ice time

Burmi showed up to play

Augustburnsred it is extremely hard to coach and stay to a game plan with the way this game was like a circus atmosphere. If the next few games are rough I'm sure things will improve.

I'm like one of 5 Oduya fans on the planet, not his best game, but that one goal was on Buff, too. He totally left Johnny hanging resulting in a 3 on 1. That's why Enstrom and Buff were so good together, Toby could cover Buff when he went in to pinch.

Very odd D pairings. Can't argue the Stuart and Bogo pairing, that's the one person he hasn't stunk up. Hainsey and Oduya played decently last season.

Not really.. I'm talking about defense pairings and TOI management for the most part.

ladd-little-wheeler was too good of a line last year to say as bad as they looked tonight. they'll get better.

kane-burmi-antro should be the 2nd line. or even the first line

i understand it's a high pressure game, but noel should know better to put your two worst defensemen on the same pairing. ditto for only playing your most talented forward 10 minutes.

What? Wasn't the Stapler scratched?

Anyway, you're right about the first line. They didn't look strong tonight, but they had great chemistry last year, and I'm sure they'll bounce back. Also, that second line sounds awesome, only problem is that both Kane and Burmi really likes to hold on to the puck. But I think that line should be worth a look.

Any word on how high the decibel levels reached? I read at some point during the intro it was up to 97 db, wonder if it got higher?

I thought the first preseason game was louder.

Yeah, according to the Free Press it got up to 100 db during the anthem, I'd have guessed higher but it's a smaller crowd so it definitely feels way louder anyway.

agreed kane-burmi-antro should be the second line, thought antro could have battled a little harder in the corners but he was a force in front of the net, unlike the other big man Wheeler who seems to be on the perimeter way too much.

Hope your wrong about Oduya, he really couldn't get much worse.

Loved your fans tonight. Some bad luck and bad calls contributed to the score.

As a Habs fan, I have to say that Burmistrov is gonna be something special. I saw him a lot in Barrie and I knew he was good then, but he just keeps getting better and better.

All aboard the Oduya hate train!

He pretty much cost us the game early. Just as we start to get momentum, BAM a huge turnover that leads to a goal. I was shaking my head on 90% of his passes tonight. Surprised he was still playing in the 3rd.

Of course, the refs had a few bad calls (Buf and Bogo calls were bad. Not to mention the no calls and the missed penalty shot call (unless someone that was watching on TV can explain why the penalty was not called a penalty shot.)

I do have to credit Montreal. They capitalized on their chances, and we didn't. This could be a long season. Let's hope for a good bounce back game.

Oh, and welcome back Jets! We missed you!

The only reason why the ref wouldn't call it a penalty shot is because he thought Wheeler had a "reasonable scoring chance", which is what the rule says.

in my opinion, the hold on wheeler didn't impact the scoring chance. if wheeler had went to his knees and sold it more he may have gotten the penalty shot.

It amazes me that those with the birth right of hockey knowledge are complaining about the interference call on Buff. .... it was a justified make up, it's that simple.

Hey, glad you're not in the AHL anymore, but we're gonna miss the rivalry. Go Jets!

i think the Jets were a nervous bunch out there. they sat around for 9 days waiting for this big day and looked to be playing tighter than a chicken. yes, some really bad give-aways and unfortunately Montreal buried every one. Burmistrov will be an exciting player. You can't score on Price from 40 feet out unless you get some traffic in front of him.
