Letang was very very good tonight, but screaming Norris after three games? Didn't people learn from last season?

Letang's hair > Jagr's mullet.

On the topic of his skills, he's very unique. He gets a beat a lot on one-on ones, but he, nearly 100% of the time, recovers excellently and gains control of the puck. Very speedy.
And you googled a picture.

But yeah, his mobility is ridiculous. Probably his best quality.

He might well have won it last year but his game kinda fell off when Crosby and Malkin got hurt as he tried to press and make up for their absence.

I think he has a shot this season if the Pens stay (or rather get) healthy.

unfortunately the pens haters will diminish his talent by saying he can't do much without Crosby in the lineup. But take it from people who watch him every game, this guy is a star defenseman.

Cam Fowler had 28 minutes against the Rangers(and 11 minutes of it was not PP time).

I really don't think it's so much about the ice time, as it is that he's playing well though. Letang got off to a real nice start last season, but he faded. If he can maintain that, well, he's a damned good player when he's playing well.

I'll be honest - There isn't anyone you could offer me in a trade for to have the Penguins give up Letang. He's legit in any aspect of the game and a complete monster. I'd be SHOCKED if he's not a Norris finalist this year.
Any top pairing defenseman that could run your PP might be an upgrade.

Loved that play on Hemsky when he pressured him at the point, knocked the puck away, and then beat him to the puck in the other end.

Threads like these are why I still think he is overrated.

Cam Fowler played 28 minutes a game yesterday as well... and looked excellent.

Morrow will be the guy for the job... in the future. Our power-play actually looked solid until the 1/8 debacle against Edmonton, including the five minuter. The thing with Letang is that his shots are hard but tend to miss the net.

It's not only that he's playing so well without Crosby in the line up, he's also doing it without Orpik.

He reminds me of Drew Doughty, except with less strange mistakes

Letang was the best player in the game tonight. He was every where, and he was arriving there at full speed. It seemed like he skated miles tonight, and every pass and shot off his stick was a laser.

He really reminded me of Brian Leetch.

I'm inclined to agree. It's no surprise Letang is a good d-man. Him getting these minutes is completely understandable.

As stated, Girardi played 30+ in the Rangers 1st two games. Not an unheard of accomplishment.

Ah, the myth continues. Maybe he seems to miss more because he takes so many more shots than the other dmen on the team, but his rate of putting shots on goal is actually as good as or better than most of the team.

I can only assume this is because you haven't actually watched any defensemen since Lidstrom in the early 2000's
