I guess the end excitement made up for the first 59 minutes of the game. Love that Gulutzan chose to shoot second. Don't know why anyone chooses to shoot first.
If Kari can stay healthy I definately think he has the skill to be a top 5 goalie in the league.
He always did. Just Atlanta was a terrible place to play. Didn't help his condtioning at all. It's no surprise he comes to Dallas, he stays healthy and in shape.
This team is still absolute **** and needs a ton of work, but the bright spots got us through this game and stole 2 points. Kari being a total boss and a dominant goalie in this league, Souray being an AMAZING pickup.
I'm also really happy to see Loui get the GWG and a shootout win. Hope that picks up his confidence. He looked really frustrated out there before the Goal.
Don't think Kari can steal many games if they continue to allow >40 shots per game. After 30 games he'll be tired already (I remember him saying after last season, being physically as well as mentally exhausted)...
Got lucky with the 2pts, but there are so many aspects to improve, PP, 1st line fail, etc. Other teams won't be as generous as Phoenix was tonight.
Really hope there'll be an improvement before the next match, with Pardy and Grossman. Souray plays like a #1 dman out there, IMO even better than Goli. Love the fact that he keeps shooting towards the goal, good things will come. Hope he keeps that up.
Ice time was pretty evenly distributed. Just looking at Vincour's numbers you can see what this means for his short term future in Dallas.

Absolutely, I really hope this win doesn't make them think the team is OK:
*The PP is absolutely horrid and needs major reworking, including changing the pairs and determining a real PP QB role.
*The transition game needs a ton of work, they need to to be broken of the bad habits of just throwing the puck out of the D zone right back to the opposing D men, or even worse, throwing it to the D-men IN the Dzone and having them reload a point shot. It was a problem last year and it doesn't seem its been fixed. Fistric is the biggest culprit of this, but everyone does it.
*The 1st line has no pop at all. Idk what happened to that Ryder-Riberio chemistry in the pre-season but its not there now. Both the 1st and 2nd line need to also take some notes from the 3rd line and actually DUMP AND CHASE vs trap teams. The 1st and 2nd lines had no sustained forecheck or board work to retrive the puck. That has to change. The 1st line in specific where very lazy with the forecheck and work ethic.
*Needless penalties need to stop. Play more disciplined, stop giving them chances to win the game.
I hope the 2 days off gives them a chance to rest up and work on their fundamentals. Gully really needs to have this team ready to go vs St. Louis. We won't have an opposing teams' anemic offense to bank on from now on.
