Great the hear he is doing so well! And I agree, he doesn't get enough recognition from our fanbase, myself included.

Ya I was looking at the WHL top scorers the other day and noticed him their. Thats awesome to see, not only can he fight but he has the skills to go with it. I see him being a Prust type player but with 20 goal potential in the NHL one day.

He follows up that impressive performance with a 1 goal, 3 assist night.

17 Games Played - 15 Goals, 14 Assists for 29 Points with a +8 on the year.

I watched Baertschi last night here in kelowna and I can't say I was impressed. The rockets were on him physically early and he got frusterated, took a boarding/checking from behind penalty as well as a diving penalty. He didn't skate well and looked uninspired throughout the game. He had no real good offensive chances and didn't play a whole lot (maybe 15 mins is my guess). He did get a go in the shootout and scored the game winner. Definitely not his best game and I'm sure he is capable of more. They play again tonight and I think I'll go for the 1st period.

He was back from injury !
yesterday he had 3 assists and was the man of the game.

He is almost leading the WHL in points per game !!
On a point per game he is 2nd in the league.
11 games and 24 points.
And overall he is 13th, with 35-45% less games than the others.

make abstraction of the injury and he has a super season so far.

Hey all,

I'm in a fantasy keeper league where Howse was just waived.
Is he worth claiming? What's his potential, and how far away is he from the NHL?
I would be dropping Woywitka for him.

He's at least a year from the NHL, probably two. Potential is probably a 2nd line sniper, although it's fairly doubtful as to whether or not he reaches that potential.

I wouldn't pick him up he is a ways from the NHL, the problem is he needs to show he can continue to score at each level and it looks as if he is struggling to do that in the AHL. Therefore scoring at the NHL level will be a while.

The last U20 tournament before WJC started today. Finland is playing against Russia and Markus Granlund has one goal and an assist after two periods.

Awesome updates hockey/flames fans. I have a whole bunch of your prospects (Brodie, Reinhart, Ferland, Holland) on my keeper league team so I really appreciate the discussion and effort cheers

It helps to play alongside the Holy Slapper.

If he continues at that pace, its safe to say that Bart doesn't go back to the WHL next season.

I'm about 90% confident that Baertschi will be in our lineup next season.

I'd be surprised if he wasnt. The way our roster is shaping up for next season, we will have a top 6 wing spot open. He'd have to have a terrible camp not too.

Seems like Markus Granlund might be NHL ready before we even know it. Two goals in todays game HIFK-Lukko (FEL) and plays like a man.

From what ive read is he's been piggy-backing on his brothers line. I'd say give him a couple years to beef up and hone his skills.

The thing i've been intrigued by is someone said he was playing a bit of a Jarkko Ruutu type game. To be honest, i'd love that (minus the diving). Someone to get under an opponents skin is always an asset.
