Ottawa And Nashville Proposal

I think Hartnell would be excellent fit for OTT top 6 LW.

TO OTTAWA: HARTNELL
TO NASHVILLE: VARADA, SMOLINSKI AND 3RD RD PK

OMG< be prepared to have your azz ripped out. nashville gets burnt bad. Ottawa would need to include someone like Spezza, etc to get Hartnell.

Hey, sure! We'll trade our future captain and probably best all around player for scraps!

MEANWHILE, we'll give you Jeremy Stevenson, Jim McKenzie and Vernon Fiddler for Zdeno Chara!

Varada and Smolinsky total scraps

While Hartnell maybe worth more then these two both are legit top 9 forwards on any team in the nhl.

How about Jakub Klepis and Tim Gleason for Hartnell. Now you have to think about it.

Way to go mucks

i still wouldn't do that deal. the point is...while smolinski and varada are decent NHLers...Hartnell has the makings of a legitimate first line power forward. Let's spin this around...

If I offered Vlad Orszagh, Greg Johnson and a third for one of your star players...would you do it? No. In their own right, Vladdy and Greg are 15-20 goal scorers, and a third is a decent pick...but quantity doesn't always = quality. Hartnell is about as untouchable as they come.

Hartnell first line pf no sorry thats not gonna happen. Look at his numbers, nothing there suggest first line player.

Like I said its not a fair trade coming from Nashvilles perpective but its better than some people have suggested.

Johnson Orszagh for Fisher I definatly dont think its as bad as your do.

Smolinsky is basically a 50 point guarantee who is playing on team USA neither Orszagh or Johnson are in his league.

Well, you clearly know nothing beyond numbers, then..which still lend themself to Hartnell. He was practically unstoppable for us this year...scoring MUCH more consistently than even Sullivan or Walker. True he only had 18 goals...BUT..he did it while missing 25 games and playing third line minutes! A full season would have seen him lead the team in scoring. While he was healthy, he never slowed, and I think a full season could EASILY see him hit 30...and I'm not the only one who thinks so. Combine that with a ferocious physical game...Hartnell easily has first line potential

Wow, talk about twisting the facts.

Last season Hartnell played 59 games and had 33 points. By comparison, Spezza played 78 games and had 55 points. Now if you argue that Hartnells numbers suggest he'll never be a first line player, are you willing to concede that Spezza won't either?

33 points in 59 games would be on a pace for 45 points in a full season which is still 10 points behind Spezza, Spezza had a solid rookie season along with a nice sophmore year, his rookie year he racked up 21 points in 33 games and last year he clearly did very well with 55 points in 78 games, he well ahead of Hartnell and the 2 don't compare.

Hartnell might one day become a first liner, but Spezza has franchise player potential, Spezza is clearly better then Hartnell and whoever suggested that Spezza goes the other way back for Hartnell gave me a good laugh.

Spezza should cost the Preds Suter + another decent prospect or a 1st rounder, that's his value, you can't say the same for Hartnell because he's not in Spezza's league.

You have to give to get. No way Nashville even considers that deal. If you want Hartnell I'd think you'd have to start with either Volchenkov or Vermette, and then Nashville would still want a pick or 2.

Franchise player? Right now future franchise players aren't sat out during the playoffs and not played.

He was 20 years old. In these days you can't rely on one player, let alone a 20 year old who is in his 2nd season.

If I'm Nashville, I laugh at that proposal. No way can you get Hartnell with a proposal like that. As nomorekids said, he is a future PF first liner, which is a rare breed.

Its kinda funny. The ESPN announcers said during that series one of two things would possibly happen afterwards. If Ottawa went on to win without Spezza (keep in mind their 4th most productive forward) and Martin made the right move, then maybe Spezza would demand to be traded. Who knows. They went on to say if Ottawa lost then maybe it would be Martin's job. I found it ironic that Ottawa lost and Martin was fired. Maybe the kid is still a big defensive liability, but they should have at least played him to try and generate some offense.

When you said "include" it sure looked like it. Use better wording. PLUS who mentioned just Spezza?
