Don't mean to be a downer, but a lot of people are putting faith in Lundin when we haven't even seen him play yet.

I've heard mixed reviews about him so I'm not very optimistic that he's going to single-handedly save our sinking defense. Actually, from what I've heard, he's an older version of Scandella mixed with Schultz.

He'd add stability to that top four, that's the big thing.

K... except your basing this off the fact of previous Ottawa teams. They're a young team, for the most part, and at some point they're going to put it all together and be a really good team. Being a young team they'll have games where they are dominate, and other where they are dominated. It's to be expected. We just happened to catch them on a day where they were playing very well. The way we played in the 2nd didn't help.

Isles played well IMO...Ottawa not as much. The Wild just sucked defensively and couldn't get the puck past the red line. If it weren't for Backs, it could have a been a 5-3 or 6-3 game.

Ottawa out worked the Wild and earned that win. Those type of performances will be few and far between for us this season with all of the young players getting their fist NHL experiences. I also think we a have not found the chemistry as of yet but with so much turn over with the roster it should get better.

The biggest reason why I'm not too terribly upset at just getting a point out of Ottawa is that we got a point out of Ottawa...

Circular, I know...

Ottawa Senators 18 8 4 in season openers.

Last night was their home opener, not season opener. I figured that their home opener was going to be tougher right out of the gate. The first period was... unexpected. The rest of the game, not so much...

/shrug

If we lose at home to the Oilers, that's when you know our season is over...

lets not forget most of us tempered our expectations for this season, and was more than likely to finish just outside playoffs again, rather than in.

I'm just frustrated with the loss I guess. Going into the season I was more optimistic than I have been in a few years, but I had some what if questions in the back of my head.

What if the D is as bad as some are saying it will be?
What if the offensive players don't gel and work out for us?
What if Yeo doesn't work out as a coach?

It's still only a three game old season so far, so I'm not jumping off a ledge yet. Yeo and the O look like they will turn out fine, but that defense needs a lot of work. They lack confidence and physicality. This should be the main problem we address this year and into next season.

So far we are 1-0 at home and 0-2 on the road...this doesn't sound familiar at all does it

Not to mention 0-2 against Eastern Conference. Didn't we do pretty terrible in that category last year too?

Yep! Especially in the northern part of the Eastern Conference as well. Reason we didn't make the playoffs was futility on the road against subpar teams. We could beat Washington or Pittsburgh but we'd lose to Ottawa or Toronto without even putting up a fight it seemed like.

Oh god, I almost forgot about the Montreal and Toronto games last year, and those were even at home...

It's almost like the Wild didn't know how to react to constant booing. They're so accustomed to "Minnesota nice" and the less-intense Canadian fans.

Considering how much the Vikings fans were giving it to the team when they were WINNING, I don't think the Wild will get as much of a free pass.
