I would kill for Benn on this team. Parise for Benn.
I would too. He`s a PERFECT fit for us. Can play both C/W, plays hard, plays smart, plays with energy, is good both defensively and offensively...the list goes on and on.
Don't know if this has been said before, but I think we need to try for an eventual Elias replacement (a top-6 scoring LW/C).
Our D prospects are about as solid as they've been since I've been watching the Devils (since '93), so unless Conte has someone available at one of our top-3 picks he REALLY likes - draft a forward. Draft two or three. Once you get past the kids already playing in the NHL, our forward prospect depth is atrocious. And there's still no guarrantee any of Tedenby, Henrique, Palmieri or Josefson will end up being top-6 material.
Personally I'm hoping Galchenyuk falls to us in the 15-20 range. Would'nt mind Frk either. Samuelsson might also be an interesting 2nd rounder, as well.

Josefson could be Elias' replacement. He is a playmaker that is responsible defensively.
With Henrique playing very well it looks like Josefson will either end up as a 3rd line center or converting to RW.

That's certainly true, but a little insurance couldn't hurt, either. With our current crop of D's, I'd just like to see us grab at least two potential top-6 forwards in our first three picks. Let the rest of the league go crazy over D's...We've got Larsson.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a forward in this draft unless a can't pass on defenseman drops. I really want us to go after a center or a right wing.

RW is actually what I meant when I first posted. We need either a natural Center or Right Wing. We do sorta have the left covered so far! I guess I could see a scenerio where Galchenyuk and Frk are gone, but Koekkoek or Ceci is still available, where we draft a D. But then I would hope for a couple of RW/C scorers with our two 2nd rounders.
I love Ceci and would ecstatic to hear his name called.
And for the record, I was clamoring for him before the last draft when the Murphy hype was in full swing. Ceci was putting up Murphy esque numbers, at the appropriate age though, with more size.
As I read more and more scouting reports, everything I have seen continues to confirm the sense that this is an incredibly strong draft. I won't pretend I'm not excited for it, even though it's so far away yet.
I fully agree... and this is why I'll attempt to ask this question.
Let's just say that Parise goes forward and tells Lou, before the deadline, he'll test the market this summer. The odds of him moving Parise would still be slim to none but we could end up with a very sweet package IMO and stack up on 1st rounders ala Anaheim or Philly in 2003, wich was the turning point of both franchise from that point on IMO.
We'd have about 5 picks in the top 60 in a very solid draft pool. I understand that keeping Parise over futures is the ideal option but this draft class is so good and so deep that we could add some stud prospects for our "on the fly rebuild".
Once again, this isn't a attempt to move Parise. I'm just speculating if Parise does tell Lou that he's ready to move on.
When I watch Cody Ceci play, I immediatly think of Shea Weber. I'd love for us to snatch him up in the 1st round.
P.S. When did Ceci put up Murphy'esq #'s? His biggest point total was 34 pts in 68 games in 2010-11
Ya sorry I tried to word that better but I wasn't sure how to say his pace was on track with murphy's first year in the OHL and could explode the year after, which is this year. Let's see if his pace can go off this year.
Lot of talent this year. A great draft could take our team to another level, see philly, a bust and well I guess the rangers are still doing ok?

Trade the man! I don't care who you are... I hate losing players for nothing. Terrible assets management... And I completely understand a players right to see what other teams willoffer but if what Lou offers and the way he's treated by this organization is good enough, then set us up as best as possible and load us up with some more picks/prospects. I would rather get a 1st a 2nd and a near ready prospect then nothing as we watch a player walk away. This is for Parise or anyone else.
The fact that we are also losing a 1st round pick in the next two years should be weighing on Lou's mind as well. We just can't afford to lose Parise for nothing and on top of that, lose a 1st round pick in the next 2 drafts. Losing Parise for nothing will set this team back, there's no question about that and by the same token, we'd be giving away a pretty solid pick since our team wouldn't be as good.
I know it's not the same sport and all but why is it that in soccer, pending free agents are moved whitout any hesitation, just to get something in return instead of losing a star player for nothing?
I'd get it if Lou taught we'd have a real shot at the cup but let's not kid ourselves... we don't have the team to go all the way with or whitout Parise this year.
