What irks me is that it's not even 5 dollars. For crying out loud, only an idiot buys Live time at official prices when you can t get for much cheaper at different online sites etc.

I think a year of live is 50 bucks. That's what I bought anyways.

I've seen some people mention here paying $40 for it. Seem like us Europeans save more since we sort of have to pay more in general. Official price here is 60 euros, while the cheapest we can get it is under 40 euros (used to be even low as ~30 euros but then the prices went higher). So we can save more 20 euros when we use sites that sell them for the cheaper prices.

Gaming giant Sony is wrestling with new attacks on its gaming network, just months after a series of attacks brought its systems to a grinding halt and exposed millions of users to potential data theft.
Sony Network Entertainment International LLC and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) said Tuesday that they have detected "a large amount of unauthorized sign-in attempts" on PlayStation Network (PSN), Sony Entertainment Network (SEN), and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) services.

"Less than one tenth of one percent of our PSN, SEN, and SOE consumers may have been affected," Sony said in a statement on its website. "There were approximately 93,000 accounts [PSN/SEN: approximately 60,000 accounts; SOE: approximately 33,000] where the attempts succeeded in verifying those accounts’ valid sign-in IDs and passwords, and we have temporarily locked these accounts."

Sony said it will send emails to the affected account holders and will require secure password resets.

Of course I did. Whenever there is a thread about both services PS3 fanboys automatically bring up the $5.00. This was an opportunity to illustrate how insignificant that money is.

Maybe I shouldn't have bought Megaman 2 and 3 from the PSOne imports section.

Being hacked twice is reallly bad, but at least Sony's primary product works. Nearly everyone I know who has bought an XBox has had to have it sent in to be repaired several times. Alternatively, they've needed to buy a new XBox.

What is the number of friends who have problems with their PS3 or Wii? Zero, zilch and nada.

The new xbox I believe doesn't have the problem as much. Plus ms was nice enough to give you an extended 3 years warranty for that problem

Yeah, it took 'em a while but they definitely up their game regarding the hardware.

there's still a bunch of people out there who have had their PS3 break down ...most noteably the older 'fat' models.

drop in 'YLOD' on google and you'll see that Microsoft aren't exactly alone with their shabby hardware.

It's been widely speculated that having the system "upright" rather than "flat" was the problem with that. I know for certain that mine was fine until I moved home and put it upright. Two months later it was toast.
